So me and my girlfriend have been long distance for a 1 1/2 i am wondering if anyone has had experience with this. She wants to get a visa to come visit me but I am so scared that she will be denied. She has no intentions of staying when she visits and we of course are going to be 100% honest and she is going to say she is going to see me. I keep hearing stories of the visa being denied because of this. Just wondering if I am overthinking too much or not.

She wouldn't be denied for that. She would be denied for lack of ties to home country and suspected immigrant intent.

What country is she from? Some nationalities have better luck than others.

From Amman Jordan. She is a teacher and plans on asking for a promotion to teach a higher grade. She doesn’t own property but does have a family that depends on her because she is the only one working right now. We haven’t meet in person yet.

Under US law, all visitor visa applicants are presumed to want to immigrate illegally to the US.  The burden is on them to show strong ties to their home country to indicate they would return home after a brief visit to the US.

As a young woman with a US boyfriend, she has incentive to stay in the US, marry, and adjust status for a green card.

Based on the information you've provided, I am going to assume that her family is not well off since she owns no property and her family depends on her income.  She probably has never traveled internationally, right?

IMHO, her chances for a visitor visa is low.  It's $160 to apply.  May be worth a shot, but don't get your hopes up.

Best of luck.

If you have not met yet she can't be your girlfriend, not sure why you are calling her that.

Better you go to visit this potential romantic interest, spend some real time together not virtual, then decide whether to start a relationship.

Best bet

Getting denied a tourist visa is certainly a possibility.  Having a boyfriend in the US does lower her chances of being approved.  But the only way to find out for sure if she can get a visa or not is for her to apply when routine visa services resume at the embassy.  Good luck!

The only way to find out is for her to apply.

If she's a young Muslim woman with no previous international travel, it will be difficult. I know the culture very well and young women in their culture do not typically travel alone internationally, let alone to meet a man she's never met. Just keeping it real.

I will say that my own sisters in law(from Amman) have traveled internationally extensively on their own, BUT their first experiences abroad were within the Middle East and then Europe and lastly the U.S. They all had extensive ties to home including owning property, jobs with contracts, children and spouses to go home to and their family did not depend on their incomes to survive.

Thank you I appreciate the response from the experience. She is a teacher and needs to sign a contract before the summer break confirming that she will be coming back to that job next teaching year so I hope it works in our favor fingers crossed.

Provide everything that might help.

If she can take even a brief trip to a nearby country, and then return, it evidences a good travel history, which is just about the only objective ammunition that "presumed immigrants to the U.S." can wield.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
