171 of the 173 deaths on July 23 now verified. Just saying. Shame VOR is in hiding to explain it.

I didn't want you to look bad, and got tired of waiting and decided to add to the 23rd score for ya.  Getting doctors to add covid to a death certificate has been pretty easy.  Getting them to post-date the bodies, not so much.  But you are worth the extra effort.

Lets hope September is better than August and the end of July. Overall Florida is up to 1.7% mortality rate. Don't see much changing demographically so maybe the elderly with health issues are getting some false sense of security or trying to brave it.

Some places are not doing school, well, here's some nice little FLDOH stats for people under 18 since March to shove down their throats:

Cases: 47, 489

Hospitalizations: 593 (Hospitalization rate: 1.25%)

Deaths: 8 (Death/mortality rate: 0.01%)

For much of August:

Cases: 7, 188
Hospitalizations: 74 (Hospitalization rate: 1.03%)
Deaths: 1 (Death/mortality rate: 0.01%)

Despite the virus looking worse overall.. for children, it's looking better, and it never looked bad to begin with. ZERO justification for keeping schools shut down.

Glad to see you back. We decided to skip making pizza this weekend (carbs) so my question about a 72-hour rise with 00 flour is kind of moot now. Not sure if I raised that here or elsewhere but as Trump said, it is what it is. :P

Thanks.  Be wary, some people are not in as jovial a mood as normal.

He seemed really grouchy with me lately, which is a shame because I don't want to cause offense even when I strongly disagree with him on a few subjects. Maybe just took some time off? In the end VJ is just internet stuff, real world is way more important these days.

I am truly sorry if I was grouchier with you than normal, Yuna.  NB is the only one here who deserves any extra grouchiness, so if some of that spilled over onto your account, please don't take it personally.  I will try to express myself better from now on.

I'd say what's on my mind right now, but I'd probably end up back in that place that some people blankly refer to.  Don't open any strangely-addressed packages next week...

13,902 beds available.  46,006 in use (7,145 are covid patients, down 1,575) 23.2% available.  <<< -612 less beds total as compared to 29 Jul>>>

504,768 positive

3,346,974 negative

It's been quite awhile now since we were discussing hospital overwhelmedness, so I thought I'd share today's numbers:

17,254 beds available.  43,609 in use (2,104 are covid patients, down from the original 9,000 plus and the 7,145 above) 28.3% available. <<< 955 more beds total as compared to 7 Aug>>>

If you take the 955 beds out of the equation, that would put today's hospital load with 26.8% available beds.  Not really all that much different than when covid was a raging fire in Florida.  My postulation that the hospitals were nowhere near being overrun by covid still stands.

I think doctors know so much more about covid-19 July  to  October than they did Feb to July that would profoundly impact capacity issues. Remdesivir as a treatment and holding off on intubation are two factors that have helped. It still a hella wicked disease tho.

No doubt about any of that.  But the issue I had was people claiming that "Florida hospitals are overflowing, can't handle the load".

Based on the posts I made during that time showing the stats, and the one I posted above today, that was patently false.
