Should I file now or wait?

Hi all,

Just wondering if USCIS stopped processing petitions due to corona virus situation. Should I file n400 now or wait till may to apply? My papers are ready to be sent 😬

I just filed a few days ago.  My thoughts were that once the application is in I am in the queue and so hopefully will have some "head start" once the doors open again.

We filed yesterday, I don't see any reason at all to wait. Better file now while the fee is low, before it goes up in October (if that's still happening.)

Did you apply online or by mail?? Cause I’m planning to submit my n400 application via mail. Do they only accept online application right now? Thank you

Online. I'm not totally sure about the mail situation...I know the IRS isn't touching any paper taxes, not sure how USCIS is handling that. Any reason you can't just apply online instead to be on the safe side?

There is really no reason to wait unless the application fee will stretch your finances in this difficult time.  I'm sure you can file on paper and that they're still opening mail, but online seems like such a better option.  Then there is no chance of papers getting lost and agents working from home could still process your application.

People have been reporting receiving various NOAs the last couple of weeks, including for paper filing.

For n400 I like online filing as it guides you through the particular evidence you need to upload for your case depending on your answers, flags any potential issues for you , and no chances of getting the fee wrong. And as above, you know they have it as soon as you hit submit.

I filed at the beginning of March, and got receipt around the 25th. Now I am waiting for fingerprint/interview, but obviously it will take some time. If I were you I'd try to get this done asap.

I applied by mail two weeks ago with tracking and they ran my credit card and updated my account a week later. “Just because you are sending yours online doesn’t mean they will work it any faster.” Per USCIS agent! Also in my state they are in office it’s just not open to the public.

By mail, but oddly I got  a receipt number indicating online filing ( Receipt # IOE0...)
