"Safe" is a judgement call.

Immigration-wise, it has no impact.

If you travel to China (or anywhere else that may have restrictions by the time you return), there is a mandatory 14 day quarantine.

Employers may have their own policies as well (e.g. my doctor friend's hospital has a 14 day self-quarantine for any travel to areas where there is significant COVID-19 activity).

It is a fluid situation, changing by the hour.  Any LPR or USC traveling is taking a risk.

Yup - me and my now-husband had been making plans to go to Hawaii in April for our honeymoon - but we're sadly shelving that idea until we know flying is safe...road trip here we come!

You guys make me more nervous...we're over here hoping our plans to Japan in April aren't impacted by bans or airline cancellations.

I think we will have more clarity in the coming weeks.  My stepdaughter is coming here from NZ in April as well.

I actually work in the cancer center of the hospital in Kirkland, WA where the first US death occurred last night.  I worry most of all for my immunosuppressed patients.

Saying you are going to Africa is meaningless in this context. Africa is a whole huge continent made up of many different countries some of them totally different and thousands of miles apart. Statements like yours help perpetuate the rife ignorance among many Americans that Africa is a single country.

What could be happening in Mozambique has as little bearing on Ghana as what’s happening in Tajikistan. Indeed a Ghanaian is more likely to be infected by a British than a Mozambican because there’s almost zero travel between Ghana and Mozambique while travel between Ghana and UK is extensive.

Saying you are going to Europe for example could be more acceptable because most of the countries Western Europe for example has no borders so the flow of people within the region is high and you could somewhat consider the area as monolithic for this purpose, epidemiology.

It would be very uninformed to place a blanket travel ban on Africa because of widespread disease in one country or subregion.

Sorry for the lecture. 😁

The way the news media hypes the whole thing way out of proportion. You would think the black plague was back. You could die going to your mailbox later today. I wouldn't worry about it. I have travel plans for April/May, and again in October, I'm not sweating it. Unless they actually ban travel, I'm rolling out, got too many things already paid for. It may be a level 4 travel advisory, but I'm not very old, and I have a pretty strong immune system. You really didn't live if you think your going to die every day. I'm sitting in line at Sam's club waiting for a gas pump to open as I type this. The guy in front of me is of course smoking while fueling his vehicle, he could drop his cigarette and blow the whole station up in a huge fireball and I burn to death while posting on VJ.  LOL

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

We were planning a cruise mid year......all plans on hold at the moment.  We might opt for some US inland travel instead.......
