Hello. 

I'm a US citizen and trying to get my mother to come visit me and my family here in the USA. 

I'll be paying for her trip expenses and she will be staying at my house for the entire trip. My question is, would the fact I'm paying for everything hurt her chances? She is a housewife without any assets.

The issue seems to be more her lack of ties, no job, no money and seemingly you may be in need of a baby sitter?

Her Stronger ties to the US through yourself than to Morocco may be a much bigger hurdle.

You paying for her trip will not solely impact the case. However, you paying for her trip because she has no ties to her home country and stronger ties to the US will.

 

She needs to show that she needs to go back home rather than staying and living here with you because she can no longer afford to stay in her home country. There are a lot of things that can come into play like her travel history, home/property ownership, financial status, etc. You starting to get the picture?

I'm assuming from your profile pic that you've just welcomed a little one to your family---congratulations!

 

If the idea of her coming across is in part to help take care of the newborn, that is also something that will hurt her chances.  Even though she's the grandparent, the CO will view it as unauthorized work/working on a tourist visa which is a big no-no.

Thx for the reply... My mother is still married to my dad who is retired.. She has always been a housewife which is very common in Morocco and no my profile Pic is old lol. My son is 10 now so no I don't need a baby sitter... My mother has a husband, other children and grandchildren in morocco as well.

People have left much behind in their home countries to immigrate to the US.  Your mother will have to qualify n her own merits, and she will have to convince the CO that she will return to her home after the visit.  Please let us know what happens.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I understand what you're saying. But if my mother wanted to immigrate to USA.. She could of easily qualified  for an immigration visa since I'm a US citizen..but yeah it just depends on how they see it.

Unfortunately that hurts, or rather what hurts is the many parents of USCs before who have “visited” and then “suddenly” decided they don’t need to go back home after all and rather stay and adjust status. This is why showing ties to home is even more important for the parent of a USC, because there is an easy and legal path to immigration for them.

I'm pretty sure there was nothing about filling out the ds160 or financing the trip in that thread from over 2 years ago.. Thx fir the help though.

No she did not though to some personal things.. And my previous thread was 2 years ago. I didn't think I should go back and restart it.
