Has anyone gotten a Marijuana Medical Card?

I have epilepsy and there is a lot of research that suggests marijuana can help this. But I still wouldn’t risk it and I live in WA where pot has been legal longer than anywhere else.

What did you use in the UK to control the symptoms?

I'm from Washington as well, and I'm also an oncology nurse for patients undergoing chemotherapy.  Our rec/medical industry is now combined, so no one in this state requires a card.  (Some dispensaries give a discount for card holders or former medical patients).

It is my professional opinion that cannabis is absolutely helpful for some of my patients, mostly in the arena of management of side effects.  I look forward to more data, as well as to clinical trials on its use as an actual form of treatment.

That said, I would urge anyone who is not yet a citizen to refrain all use of cannabis, as (locally) legal and medically useful as it is.

That link says about working in the weed business or involved in it. I can't find much online regarding medical cards. Would they  find out? Would a person be protected by HIPPA? Or is it just the act of admitting to using cannabis that could get that person in trouble?

I read about a Canadian Citizen, coming across the border in to the US.  In Canada, it's legal, in Washington, it's legal, he was asked by the CBP agent if he ever used drugs or marijuana, and he said yes.  Was denied entry.

Canada will ban you for a DUI.

Risking other people's lives with a DUI is different than smoking some MJ and not driving.

Absolutely. But this refers to past convictions not future intent and the US does not. What is norm in one country is not in another.

Yes, under the influence of Pot, or alcohol, or anything.  Don't drink and drive, don't smoke and drive.  Point is,  Although it's legal in two adjoining borders,  That line between the two is run by the US Gov.  I think also, if you are in a state were it's legal, and you go in to a federal park system, perhaps they can bust you there too?  I don't know about the Med card issue with the Feds though.  They are working on perhaps legalizing it nationally.

Not legal in the US.

I understand what it says about a person being a drug user but how would they find out other than admitting it? If a person has a medical card are they protected by HIPPA? Is there a database immigration can check?

It's asked and must be disclosed.

If one lied, that can come back to haunt them years after becoming a citizen. Things have a way of coming back eventually.

Weed is illegal at the federal level, your green card is a federal granted privilege.  Break their rules and be prepared to have them to retract your right to live here.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
