Hi guys, wanna ask if e-signatures (e.g. pdf signatures) are acceptable/valid on supporting documents like a letter (written explanation) or it must be handwritten. Also is it compulsory to sign such letter?

my lawyer said "USCIS hasn't adapted to the 21st century so wet ink signatures are still required"

Hi Everyone,

My Journey is almost complete, had interview on the 13th and this morning both 130 and 485 status is case approved. i guess now have to wait for the approval letters and the physical card to arrive. BTW my 765 still shows fingerprint review complete and 131 case received. guess those will be closed some times.

This has been a bumpy ride and thanks everyone for the helping hands and inputs provided. those who are still waiting for EAD and/or Interview wish all of you best of luck.

congrats!

Hi everyone,

I used VJ a ton when I was prepping for our case for filing so I thought I would share our experience so far - maybe it will help someone or at the very least, provide some sort of social support for myself and others :)

A bit of a background - I came to the U.S. in December 2006 as a student on F-1 visa. I did my undergraduate and graduate education in Nebraska. I graduated with my Ph.D. in December 2015. I got a job in California and moved to where I am at now and was on OPT from January 2016 to August 2016, and subsequently on H-1B visa from September 2016 until now (I got my visa extension until August 2022). I met the love of my life (US Citizen) in California where I am at - we started dating in October 2017, married in June 2019 and filed for AoS (along with AP, EAD, Petition for Alien Relative) in July 2019 (receipt date July 5th 2019). The following is our timeline so far:

July 3 2019: Application packet submitted

July 5 2019: Case received

August 2 2019: Biometrics appointment

August 6 2019: Fingerprint review completed

September 6 2019: Case ready to be scheduled for an interview

November 15 2019: EAD card being produced. AP still says case was received - I am hoping when my EAD arrives, it will be a combo card

And that's it for now. Our local office is in San Francisco with a long wait time (18 - 23.5 months) so it's just a waiting game at this point. There is a chance that we will be moving within the next two years before I get my GC and that is why I applied for EAD/AP since I would have to give up my H-1B when we move.

I know my case is a little different from others given my immigration history/background. If you have questions, feel free to ask and I will respond to the best of my ability. I also welcome any encouragement and positivity as we all wait in this process (we're all in this together~). Thank you to all posters on VJ - it truly has been my saving grace in preparing documents for our case.

Hello everyone... I received a RFE on Friday and they asked me to submit proof that the previous marriage from my husband has legally ended. I don't know what to send, because I included the divorce decree (in spanish, since he got married and divorced in Colombia) and the English translation... has anyone had a similar experience? I'm thinking of sending the same documents but I don't want to get denied 😔

I’d just send it again. Maybe they lost it! They ask for things that already have been submitted all the time - very frustrating. I’d send the same thing.
