Hello MSC filers...I field for ROC (I-751) in February 2019 and for N400 in June 2020.  I received a notice back in July for N400 interview, but never received an interview notice for the I-751.  Our N400 interview was this past Friday, September 10 and the officer adjudicated the i-751 at the same time in a combo interview - we went prepared for a combo interview.  Both approved, and since Newark, NJ does same day Oath Ceremony, the Certificate of Naturalization was issued on the same day.  The i-751 portion took about 5 mins: we were not separated and the officer asked the following in the following order:

* to the US citizen spouse: what is your spouse's full name and date of birth?

                                                when did you get married?

how did you meet your spouse?

* to the applicant: what is your spouse's full name and date of birth?

We took a lot of additional evidence but was never asked to produce any of it.  We believe that it is probably because when giving the officer the original documents (birth certificates, green card, marriage certificate, first child's birth certificate etc), we also handed him the hospital birth records for the birth of our second child less than a month ago.

The N400 portion was about 15 mins, and straightforward: the 50 Yes/No questions that are in the application, 6 civics questions and confirming/signing of documents.

Good luck to all!   See timeline in signature below for details.

Congrats!

My journey is also over, or is it just starting? I had my oath ceremony yesterday and am still in disbelief I have my certificate of naturalization in hand 🙂

t

my first act as a citizen was to register to vote, and to my delightful surprise, I quickly received a confirmation email that if I wanted to vote in the CA recall election, I could do it in person by casting a provisional ballot… which I did today, as my second act as a US citizen. Next step, passport on Friday.

The journey might be tedious, but it will eventually come to a happy ending, hang in there everyone!

Hi Guys!

Is anyone from 2019 still waiting or is my case the odd one?

Filed I-751 in November 2019. Been waiting for interview since July 2020. Case status updated to show "ready for interview as of July 2021" #######?

Filed N 400 in March 2021.

Any feedback/suggestions appreciated as I will be traveling in FEB 2022. Already have 1 extension InfoPass stamp on the passport.

Thanks!

Literally the same months for everything. Just had my i751 Interview but was told although they waived my biometrics back in may 2020 it has actually expired and I need to redo it so now I need to wait a month or more for an appointment because there are no ASC appointments at any offices in my whole state. They will only approve my case when the biometrics appointment has been done. Sooo probably a 2 year long roc case for me.

When did you do biometrics in the past?  I saw somewhere that an applicant had biometrics waived since he or she had biometrics done 5 years ago!
