After they did make refferal online, i got letter saying my application is in pre-proses etc nonsense. Not actual info for question....THEN 5days after that i got letter to come biometric appointment. ( gonna be 2 weeks after letter) so over all my waiting time after getting first notification form uscis is 4 months!

Just wondering if anybody knows what USCIS is actually doing that takes so long to grant the EAD/AP? We were allowed into the country on a K1 visa so haven't they already checked us out so thoroughly that it should be a relatively simple process to allow us to work? Is anybody ever actually denied an EAD/AP?

It seems USCIS adjudicators take about 10 minutes to process an EAD/AP application. My guess is they are not simply hiring enough adjudicators to process the applications, so the backlog keeps on increasing.

This maybe a silly question, I have my AOS interview scheduled for July 24th. Will EAD and AP applications get canceled by themselves if I recieve the GC, or do I have to do anything to notify USCIS that I don't need them anymore?

Hi, you don’t need to do anything. They’ll automatically get cancelled because of the approval of the green card

03/01/2019 - USCIS Chicago lockbox received case  for AOS/EAD/AP

03/21/2019 - NOA1 received hard copy via post (Notice date 03/14/2019)

We called and spoke to a tier 1 person who took our request to expedite. We received an email after a few days asking to provide evidence and reason (from a list, financial hardship being one of them). The evidence had to be faxed in. We  provided a cover letter and evidence that showed full payments of our vow ceremony. This was made before the k1 visa process started and was used as supporting evidence in our original case. We waited, and now this. We have to leave the country august 8th. We heard expediting could still take a month or more, so we gave ourselves almost 2 months....it’s all very nerve-wrecking because we would leave regardless and start the immigration process over.

Did you get an email or a letter in the mail with request for evidence? My husband called last Monday but has gotten nothing so far (Saturday). Just wondering if this sounds right!?

We used payment receipts for our wedding ceremony. These same receipts were our main evidence in our initial K1 application. Payments made over 2 years ago.

There is no reason it’s taking as long as it is and it never has before in history. These cards used to come in about a month. This is an insane amount of time to be taking and I don’t know if it’s due to the current administration slowing things down by implementing new rules or what. It’s crazy. I can’t believe they think it’s okay for people to be stuck in the US for so long or stuck not working instead of hiring more staff.

Question:

We have submitted an original copy of the marraige certificate in our AOS petition, but the interview letter is asking for one also, do we have to get another one to bring to the interview?
