We thought exactly the same thing! It doesn’t say you have to send all that stuff besides things that you think would help to poof that you’ve met and that you wanna get married ( that’s why we send pictures of the wedding rings and engagement ring) I think it’s different for every application. We only send 3 pictures together (with and without my son) and 2 of the engagement and wedding rings with no explanation on the back, no letter about how we’ve met and no intent to marry letters. Only Plane tickets and visa information of 2 trips and never got a RFE

Right, and we also sent some evidence as well.........pics, airline itineraries of trips we took together, some financial stuff......but we did it only because we saw others doing it not because it was required.   Well, it must have been fine as we got the NOA2.

I'm surprised you got by without the intent letters though, as that is spelled out in the instruction.   Maybe they were happy with rings as preponderance of evidence.

During the 129f petition stage you only have to prove you met within the last two years and you intend to marry. Best evidence for this is passport stamps, boarding passes and letters of intent. Photos together are secondary evidence.

Not a newbie but lost my old info years ago) I have been through this process before --all the way through naturalization-- This site has always been a great help to me.

I think so, that’s why we send it and they can see everything on our fb cause we opened a lot of stuff for them so they can see everything from the last 5 years. We had an appointment at the uscis to give them the letters but at the appointment they didn’t wanna take it cause everything was fine for us

OK, here's a question on the bona fide relationship.   Technically, the i-129f application does not require relationship evidence, outside of letters of intent and trips to see each other in the past two years.  (obviously, people include other evidence such as pictures, and we did also, but it's really not required)  Packet 3 does not require relationship evidence either.   In Thailand, we're instructed to bring the relationship evidence with us, and I've never heard of anyone having their evidence reviewed.   Seems the interview consists of a few simple questions, then out the door.

So my question, what are they really basing the bona fide relationship on prior to the interview?   Or how are they determining that at the interview if they don't even review the prepared evidence?     Is all this prepared evidence for the event that somehow your letters of intent, or your airline tickets are not in order and further questions develop?    Seems strange.

I would love to know this to! We got RFE's that requested we send photos, affidavits from people who know us as a couple, my fiance had to write a statement detailing all the times we had seen each other and receipts and tickets of times we had seen each other and things we had done together (we submitted them with the original application), no idea what else to bring to the interview other than newer photos, cards & affidavit or support and taxes returns? Also having the major fear we might not get sent out tomorrow-we got our case number last Tuesday after we queried it (NOA2-January 23rd)

This entire thing hurts my brain.

OK ... does anyone know why the NVC would be closed right now?  It is Monday, March 4 at 0930 EST and not a Federal holiday.  I've been trying to get the call center at (603) 334-0700 for 30 minutes and the recording says that they are closed.

A few of them are having delayed openings due to hazardous weather. Try again in half an hour.

The entire process is predicated on what does the person "touching" my record want as evidence to quall their position/question that our relationship is legitimate. Is what I submit will it be enough to have answered that question?

We know pretty much what is going to be asked at the interview because they have develop the P3 which is the outline of required documents for the interview. Now once at the interview the CO, hopefully after review of your case file prior to the interview has developed their line of questioning. Those questions are based on a set of unique evidences and is different because the uniqueness of each individual and their personal "history". So, the CO will guide the questioning down a path to determine if the relationship is legitimate. That's all their job is, to answer that one question. They don't have to be concerned with the backgrounds as they have been vetted from USCIS. The CO is instructed not to pre-judge with prejudice, whether the couple age gap is normal, or will their cultures influence the genericity of their relationship or the melding of "two families" etc. Theirs is only to rubber stamp that the relationship is genuine.

The CO has every right to ask for any evidence to determine the legitimacy of the relationship. That can come from documents contained within the P3 or items that you may or may not have in your possession at the interview that will help adjudicate your case in answer to the "legitimate" question.

From the beneficiary's approach is to bring everything but the kitchen sink with in my opinion is not necessary for two reasons. One you can't bring everything that "you" think they will ask that's impossible and two if you bring what is contained in the P3 you're apt to have a interview without much fanfare. If indeed their is something that is missing and asked for by the CO then they will 99.9999999999999999% of the time issue a 221(g) requesting further evidence. The delay for something like that is "normally" 2 weeks after you documents have been submitted.

I hope I have touched on pretty much what to expect and why. Remember, your mileage may vary.

@itsjustcassiee - Thanks, Cassie!  I'm in China right now and it's nearly 11 p.m. here.  But I think that I can do another hour.  ;)
