Comments : Took 10 weeks from initial interview to approval. Also required second interview. Critically important for people to remember that the I-485 needs to be signed by the applicant and the officer during the interview. My wife was not asked to sign during the interview, and that set us back 10 weeks. Not sure why we could not have been called in sooner. The worst part was wondering what the heck was going on. They don't inform you that the delay is due to a missing signature, and it's a matter of finding time in the schedule to get you back. They provide no information, so you have to prepare for any contingency. I almost hired a lawyer, but we were doing lots of research and stumbled on the issue of the signature, and my wife definitely remembered that she did not sign anything during the interview.

Consulate Review: Bangkok, Thailand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 3, 2019
Embassy Review : My fiancee went for the interview yesterday. Got into the embassy at about 7:30am for her 8am interview. She was in with many tourist visa applicants. At about 7:45am, she was called up to the first window. Over the course of about 20 minutes, she submitted her single certificate, name change certificate (she changed spelling of her first name years ago), passport....and the one that surprised me, the book we prepared of relationship evidence. With each item, the very nice Thai lady that was assisting her, was typing information into the computer.....which is why this took 20 minutes. This gal asked her a couple of questions.........1. was whether or not she ever lived in another country for more than one year, and 2. do you have travel plans. With regard to the travel plans, my fiancee said she would like to go this month...April. The gal told her "ok, but do not buy a ticket until you have the physical visa in your hand. If approved, it will arrive in one week." Other than that, it appeared that this woman was essentially organizing all of the information for the person doing the interview. My fiancee mentioned that our documents were well organized and concise, compared to some of the other ladies who were also doing an immigrant visa. Seems some had just stacks and stacks of paper.
At about 8:05am, she was lead to another waiting area close to "Window 5" which is apparently for immigrant visas. She mentioned that the first lady in line was at the window for about a half hour, but was eventually approved. The next three ladies took about 1 minute each at the window, and were all approved. She was next.....she thought the guy looked serious, but was polite and professional. He asked her how we met.....online........OK, then when did you meet in person. Since we've known each other a very long time, he also asked why it took so long to get engaged. He then asked where she would be living in the US. I'm assuming he already knew from the sheet and wanted to hear her repeat it. Well, apparently she did great because he told her she was approved and would have the visa within a week. Although the appointment was 8am, I did not hear from her until about 9:15am. Apparently sometimes it takes a while, so just be prepared for that.
Rating : Very Good

You got your notice in two days? I am waiting 20 days and still nothing.
DanielPlainview on 2018-10-12 said:
Hey, apologies for my error. That was the date they got my application. I've updated my timeline......my notice date was Sept 4. Couple of things.......hopefully you sent your application by Priority Mail since you can track it that way. You can see your delivery notice. The next thing to check is your bank account to see if your check cleared. Or if the transaction showed up on your credit card. Hopefully you submitted the G-1145 with your application. That form enables them to send you an email acknowledging receipt of your package. I rec'd the email on Sept 5, but according to the follow up letter, my notice date was Sept 4. The mailing was postmarked Sept 7. Yeah, 20 days is excessive. Maybe there is a way to follow up with them. Better if you have proof of delivery.

Congrats on the NOA2.

Many thanks. Yes, it was blazing fast NOA2. However, it's not even been mailed to NVC yet per my phone call with USCIS today. That stinks.

Good luck today!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
