I have the document, but I'm also a bit confused about the DS-260 vs 160. Which one do we do?

The P3 letter you are reading has two sections under that heading. The first is for immigrant and the second (further down on the page) is non-immigrant which is further down the page.

Yeah my fiancé said when he logs in, it shows the 160, I'm sorry, I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed with it. And now that I've sent him everything he should need on my end, I'm feeling a bit anxious since I have nothing more to do except wait.

@MaryDave1992 - re the time it takes to get your package received by the NVC.  After waiting so long for the USCIS, this part of the process is painfully slow.  In my case, it took 11 weeks from the time that the USCIS sent the NOA that the application was approved and being sent to the NVC to the time that the NVC received (and then processed) the application.  It took 4 weeks just for the NVC to receive it, then almost 7 weeks for them to process it.  After 11 weeks, I got the email with a case ID nd invoice number.  Now there is a problem with the CEAC system that will not allow me to log in and pay my fees/upload documents.  It is a frustrating, waiting game and no amount of calling seemed to make a difference for me.  Hope that you have better luck, but I would expect a few more weeks of delay.

Thanks for the reply.  Sorry to hear yours is also taking longer than expected :( 11 weeks is brutal..... I suppose I'm already halfway there though....

Does anyone have experience with the scanning it into NVC option?  It will be 6 weeks since NOA2 next week for me.   I know at that point they ask that a scanned copy is sent.  Has anyone done this/ know how long it takes to get processed from there?

Thanks

Is it neccesary to apostille your police certificate records if you only have the one of your home country where you are having the interview?

Here is the P3 that explains what to do for the interview. Maybe your answer is there. If not then the second link I give you is for a thread that most CR ppl are helping each other out. There are not many and you maybe the only one from CR here so for someone from Vietnam or the Philippines to have that answer is going to be a stretch.

This is what the p3 of my country says, the thing is that I've seen people saying that they've brought them apostilled. Getting them apostilled would be an extra week until I get my appt and I don't really know if it is actually necessary or not.

Yup your answer is there in your P3. I would say no they do not need to be apostille if the documents originate out of country.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

You have to bring your original civil documents to the interview. If any of the civil documents that you will submit: birth, divorce, death, single or police certificates are from another country, and are not from the Registre Civil of Costa Rica, these documents must have the apostille certification or has to be authenticated by the U.S. Consulate in the country' were the documents were obtained.

We recommend that the civil documents have a translation into English done by a competent translator.

Sometimes it helps if you walk away from VJ and the preparation and just concentrate on your relationship and family and then return in a few days. It works for me.

Did you wait until the CEAC said "ready" or "in transit" ? I'm trying to figure out when to try and scheudule it lol Once the petition leaves the NVC

Yes, we waited for the status in CEAC to be "Ready" just to be sure. I signed and submitted the DS-160, then we paid the visa fee and tried to schedule interview after 5 hours, but failed to set. I tried again after 9 hours after we paid visa fee and I was able to schedule for March 21. Few more slots remaining for March 21. I think its around 30 slots remaining if I remember it correctly.

You can try "in transit" to set the appointment or you can be safe and wait till it changes to "ready". That very topic is being discussed in the sub-forum for your country here

You could give them a call and see 1. if the name has been updated and 2. that the file is on it's way to NVC.

We are giving it until tomorrow and planning to call them, fingers crossed we make the March 5th dispatch

As the sponsor do I need to also provide proof of my identity? Like does my fiancee need to provide either my passport information or certificate of naturalization? I'm not seeing that anywhere in the requirements but I've read people include them in the packet for the interview.
