My strong recommendation is not let the fact that you have an attorney lure into a sense of complacency. Not saying you are but just a reminder.  They make mistakes, and they don't know everything, so double check everything, and make sure you understand what are they doing and why. And don't be hesitant to ask question "Why" and cross reference their word with what official websites tell you. I am curious, do they let attorney attend Interview?

Im definitely gonna check everything before he submit the application. 

I don’t think so, Some embassies don’t even let the petitioners to attend the interview with their partners. But I’ve never heard of an attorney had attended a visa interview with an applicant 😅

Either but I recommend you wait till your file has shipped to your embassy. Be sure to print a couple of copies of the confirmation page before you check off.

I have never hear of a lawyer attending an interview. I'm sure there has been one or two but no one has spoken that theirs has attended. I think it would be cost prohibitive for most to have the lawyer attend especially if they are not located in the country where the interview will take place. Besides I think a CO would not want a lawyer as it would only delay the process let alone the conversation between them and the beneficiary. JMHO

I don’t think it worth it to get a lawyer in an embassy interview unless it’s a complicated case I guess. Because it all about few questions about you and your partner so all you need is to be honest and relaxed 😅

Hi everyone, my fiance and I have just received our NOA2 in the mail, with the notice date 1/12/2019. I am a bit unsure about what happens next, so perhaps someone can give me a bit of guidance!

 

From what I understand, once the NVC gets our file from the USCIS in a few weeks we will get a case number and the case will also be shipped to the consulate in Vienna (we are applying from Austria). Once there, my fiance will get a packet of instructions to follow. I know the things he needs because its listed on the embassy's website.

 

However, besides sending the Affadavit of Support (not sure if that's the real name or not) to him, is there anything else I need to do on my end here in the US? I also thought that at some point we would need to send in some sort of binder full of "evidence" of our relationship. I printed some photos and have been collecting copies of our plane/bus/train tickets from the last three years that correspond with the photos to put a date on them, along with passport stamps. But I am not sure when this comes into play, or if I send it to the NVC or he sends it to the consulate or something? Did I just totally make up the fact that we need this?

 

Also, our I-797 says the NVC processing will take about 2-4 weeks--will they only be using our I-129F application from the USCIS as a reference to accept or deny our request, or must I send more things?

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Quick question. I've looked for the answer here and can't find it: Can the beneficiary call the NVC for case # or does it have to be the petitioner who calls?  (Currently still waiting on NOA2, but I want to be prepared!)

You have right idea. Congratulations on your approval first of all. Now give it couple of weeks, and then start calling NVC and asking for your NVC case number. Your job as petitioner is mostly done. You do need to provide form I-134 (that the affidavit of support you mentioned)  but everything else is done be beneficiary, from now on known as "Visa Applicant" Once documents make it to Vienna, they can file online DS-160 form, pay visa fee, prepare the documents including whatever additional evidence of relationship you have, schedule medical and interview. Check US Embassy website for Vienna, it might have additional info specific for Austria.

Either can call. They will need to know birthday and full name. Keep in mind it can be as long as an hour on hold, so hope it is not expensive call.

Thanks for your help! Is the evidence necessary, or merely supplementary, for "just in case"? My fiance is convinced we don't need anything since we submitted a few photos and passport stamps with the initial I-129F application, but I want to be sure! Since it is a rather small country with very few applications we have been able to correspond with the person who will be conducting the interview, and when my fiance asked which materials he'll need, evidence was never mentioned.

 

Also, do you know if I can scan and send the I-134, or must I send it to him via snail mail?
