Since I need to submit a question to even have my information updated within NVC, should I just ask them if they can have my profile updated in their system?

What do you mean by "profile updated"? I ask because it may not be the best way to communicate a change and maybe the change need not apply.

Hey @Greenbaum

Our case number has been assigned on January 9th but we’re tracking it on ceac website and it’s still showing “At NVC”. What do they do after they assigned a case number? Are they still reviewing the case? Making some background checks or something? How long does it normally take for a case status to be “in transit?”

I really am hoping to have my medical done by the end of this month. Hope to hear from you. Thank you!

They ship out case files to the embassies every other week. Next shipment is next week T/W 1/22 and 1/23. So you are still in normal processing. It will take a day or so to arrive at USEM. It will take them about a week to 10 days to set your record to "ready" condition. At that time you can schedule your interview and medical and gather the other documents needed. In the mean time look over and read the information in the following links and join us over in the sub-forum with your USEM specific questions.

Additional information can be found here:

Also, there is a sub-forum for the Philippines here on VJ that you should be a part of. It's a good place to read what others are experiencing which will only prepare you for your interview.

Manila US Embassy states that a scanned copy of the signed I-134 is fine, if you don't have the original.

Apostille for USC Birth Certificate

I'm sure this is a stupid question but do embassies who request USC birth certificates [for the interview] require those to be Apostilled or something? It's an American birth certificate issued by a state here in the US but I'm getting a little paranoid about what is needed at the interview. LOL

I just read on here that some people are scanning I 134 papers to their fiance? I though all documents like the letter from the bank/ bank statements, letter from my job and etc had to be original letters? Is that not the case?

Copy of documents for the interview from the Petitioner can be copies. The possible exception is the I-134 where that is dependent on the embassy. Some require and others do not. I try and keep a log of which do and don't because this question is asked frequently but for Brazil I do not have any information. I suggest you ask someone in the Sub-forum for Brazil which is located here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/ or you can contact the embassy and ask. Once you get an answer I would like to know please. Thanks.

The beneficiary must now comply with original documents for the interview.

It needs no formal "christening" from any government agency. So a copy of the USC birth certificate is fine and an original is not required but always check the requirements for the interview to what is needed. If you abide by those requirements then you will be fine.

BTW who told you that you needed and "Apostille" USC birth certificate? Just curious. :D

Hi,

This is my first time posting on here, I received my case number yesterday and went on ceac to track it and it says it is at NVC and to follow the six steps to take before scheduling the visa interview. Does this mean the i-134f and the other documents from my fiancee? Or is this something completely different that must be sent to NVC? I thought after I got the case number they send it to the embassy and then we get all the documents for them. thanks

That is a pad answer and not directed to non-immigrant K-1 visas. Just ignore that and follow what the embassy either sends or is posted, commonly referred to a P3 letter. I would like to extend to you the advanced P3 from your country but I do not have a copy. If you receive one would you be so kind and share it with me as I use them just for this purpose for those who come behind you. Thanks.

Page 1 Item 1 of this thread is about contacting NVC to update email address so that we can potentially get notifications from them. I was curious about what question to ask them on that submit page since all I want is to update my information in NVC. But maybe in item 1 you were taking about doing it when the time comes which can possibly be after the 4 week wait period, and I could have misunderstood it.

I've been watching the timelines for other folks approved January 1st or later and I've not seen one yet to be received by NVC.

It's strange because there were a number of fiance visas received on Jan10th with NOA2s of around December 27-28th.

You'll see some from June, July and soon August ppl. Find the thread for those if you would like because the folks in this thread are coming over from the other threads.

That is for updating your email address but you can also ask any question you want of them. If you feel you need their attention on something contained within your case then use that tool. At this stage there isn't anything that NVC can do so it would be left to USCIS or your Embassy. I hope I have answered your question to your satisfaction.

Hello, since you one of you is Cuban, do Cuban birth certificates have to be apostilled? here we call them legalized, the one that takes almost a month. Can you tell me about it?

Thanks so much. It would help me a lot
