I have seen where the assignment does come on the same day BUT it's so rare. I think you can count on sometime this week. Keep in mind I believe you have missed the cutoff for case shipments to your Embassy. New shipment dates are 11/27&28. Your mileage may vary.

Wow

just called NVC and they say received our case 11/09 and can take up to 8 weeks to make the case number...anyone else have the same or what is anyone experiencing?

I was surprised that they kept telling me 6 weeks to receive from USCIS.

any help would be great

NOA2 10/22/18

NVC received  11/09/18

The answer your getting, you'll get this with any goverment agency, their timeline for their process is ALWAYS over inflated. You MUST take their answer with a grain of salt. If you follow this thread with any intent, then there is so much history not only on this topic but other topics. Spread your wings and visit some of the other "monthly" threads and follow the discussion. It's a real education.

When anyone ask the "is anyone experiencing" question the answer most times will be YES because we all are doing exactly the same process. Same forms. Same goal.

has anyone heard of consulates in the contries which doesn't need the I-134 form and affidavit of support for the interview?

No. Every Embassy's instructions will tell you that it is a document that you need to prepare. Now some Embassy's will not ask for it at the interview but it's up to the CO who is doing the interview and the eventual adjudicating whether to review it.  If your income is over the poverty level, that would be a reason for the CO NOT to look at it as they already have the answer to the requirement of "will you become a public charge".

Wet signatures are no longer required for I-134 for your Nigeria interview. You are able to send in scanned documents. I signed, scanned and emailed mine to my fiancé to print and it was accepted.

Scheduling the interview can take 1 to 3 months. Once you pay the 95,400 naira ($265) visa fee in a GTB Bank, you can go online to schedule an appointment at www.ustraveldocs.com You can get the forms online at http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html No need to go to the consulate to pick up forms. Download forms if unexpired or get current versions of same forms. Email LagosIV@state.gov for your interview date.

We need to wait till the status..ready..

That's not true. In the Philippines you can do everything up to the interview at which time the case needs to be set to a "ready" condition. So if you have your case number and then when you go to schedule your appointment, select a date that is 4-5 weeks out which gives the Embassy plenty of time to receive your case from NVC. Prior to your interview date check CEAC to insure it is set to ready. If it is then attend the interview if it isn't then cancel the interview appointment and reschedule a week to weeks out OR cancel and do nothing till the case status is set to "ready".

Here are the steps for the PI

1st) - pay the visa fee, this can be done as soon as you get your MNL #. 2nd)  With the CEAC status page showing the MNL# , you could potentially complete the medical before scheduling the interview ( Still >> SLEC does have the Interview Confirmation page on their list), if you want to push things & this would be a good time to get CFO out of the way.  3rd)  Schedule the interview, print out copies of the confirmation page - 1 copy for the embassy and I think SLEC wants 2 copies.  4th)  Attend the interview.

Your mileage may vary.

*Long time lurker here

For those with 10/22 NOA2 dates, I called the NVC today and they received our case on 11/9. Chances anyone else with the same date, your case is probably there as well.

I know the typical response from the customer reps are 6-8 weeks of assigning a case number, but reading from earlier responses the average time for a case to be assigned is a few days. Can anyone concur? Also on the timeline, I'm trying to update mine and make it as accurate as possible, did you all put the date the NVC actually received the case or the date of when you called? Thanks :)

Yes what you read is true. Case numbers are assigned within days. You can use any date that is "near" what you think is actual. The timelines are only as good as the information that is posted. In most cases they are close, so not really a big deal which date you choose just that you are close to what you believe is right.

Just got off the phone with NVC.  Said my case was received today.  (NOA2 date 10/17/18)  The very friendly agent said it was good that I called and to call back every week to check status and see if case number was issued.  Only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas for the rest of the year.  So, for those with approval date around mine, yours should have arrived there, too.  So happy to have this resource and group of friendly people like @Greenbaum
