The Democrats (and media, redundantly to say) are silent on the allegations of sexual assault from 2017 against Congressman Keith Ellison, all of which the victim immediately reported with complete documentation.  Hypocrisy, much?

    It doesn't appear that Ellison was ever nominated for the supreme court. I think this would have come up in that case. Many in congress have questionable morals, but there is an easy way to get rid of them. That is not the case for supreme court justices.

 

  The difference with supreme court justices is that there is no regulatory body overseeing them, no public who get's to vote them out, no code of ethics or conduct which they are bound to follow. As I see it, they are scrutinized far beyond the level of someone running for congress out of necessity. Once they pass that, justices are appointed for life and they can do anything. This is the last check and balance on that power, and it's the reason all of these skeletons tend to come out of the closet at the last minute.

Feinstein had the so called skelton in her closet since the end of July, there was nothing last minute about it. She played politics at the lowest level, showing no respect for the potential victim or the judge and even less for the process of selecting a supreme court judge.

Hmm, I seem to remember some lessons in civics classes regarding the ability of Congress (a regulatory body) to impeach a federal judge including those justices that serve on SCOTUS.  As to the Ellison, it is a different story as the public will decide.  So far the people of Minnesota seem to be leaning toward an accused woman beater being their next AG based on the poll referenced below.  I wonder how many of the Dems that dismiss Ellison’s accuser believe Kavanaugh’s accuser?

Only one justice has ever been impeached and one resigned under threat of impeachment (and it wasn't even the one arrested for murder!). It is exceedingly difficult to do.

 

Again I really only see things getting worse for R's continuing to stick by Kavanaugh. I really do not know what is so important in keeping him, when they could simply replace him with someone better and free themselves from the mess. They'd come out looking better. Ford could take the tactic to file a report with the county police and launch a state investigation. If the R's insist on pushing him through, and the police or state's attorney decided to file charges we'd then run into a huge debacle of a sitting justice needing to be deposed, jailed... who knows. There is nothing protecting a justice from criminal prosecution.

So now Ford said she made a call on a cell phone (to report the assault 36 years ago).  Said cell phone cost quite a bit of money.  Oh, and was first released a year after Kavanaugh graduated from high school.
