Just got my NOA1 in the mail, and the received date is earlier than I thought! It's actually a day earlier than USPS said they delivered it. I've updated my timeline!

The NOA1 date for the purposes of VJ is date when Receipt mailed out, not when 129F was received. On your paper NOA1 it should be listed under Notice Date.

Hi everyone,

I shipped off my 129f application 9/11/18 with Usps to Dallas, it arrived on the 13th, and I got a text message yesterday 9/19 with a receipt number and saying that my application was received and they would be sending the official notification in the mail. I only got a text and not an email although I put both details on the electronic notification application.  Wish us luck and same to all of you!!! 😁

Got my i797c noa1 in the mail today! As I was going down the stairs, I decided to be optimistic and pretend that the noa1 would be in the mailbox and I was getting quite excited with that thought.. Sure enough it was the first envelope on top!!! Feels a lot more comforting then the text message for some reason. More official I guess. Please continue to send your well wishes all! Hope the process continues like this!!!!! 💓

I saw your mail person and they were holding the envelope to their forehead sending vibes to you. But there is a better way. Here is my tip:

There is a service provided by the USPS (US Postal Service) whereby each morning USPS will scan your incoming mail (just the address side of the envelope) and email you an update. It's very convenient these days to have advance notice that an important piece of mail is being delivered.

The service is available to most communities but some are still being rolling out so not all areas are available. Check the website with your zip code to verify your location is available for the service. A person in the USA can sign up for this free service here: https://informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

So, because of unforseen circumstances, I'm not at the address listed on the petition anymore and don't have a permanent address yet until maybe the end of the week. I also do not have the option to request my old mail nor pick it up at my old address.

The problem is my Receipt date is September 12th and they probably sent the NOA1 to the house, which if they did it's lost to me now. Would I be able to call them next week and request a new one when I get a new address?

Call USCIS customer service (google it) and ask for another to be sent. Don't call them till you have the new address and you are settled in. Just an additional note, the NOA1 is not used for anything so it is not necessarily a requirement for the immigration process. Hope this has helped.

Hehe, thanks for the tip! I didn't know about that service. Sounds even more reliable than my intuition lol.

Hey 2018 berries!

Just wanted to wish everyone good luck. My (now) husband petitioned for me a year ago, September 12th. I had so much help from the September 2017 129F Filers and I don't know what I would've done without it. Make use of this forum and other VJ forums as well, and if you ever feel like this process is testing you - search for user John & Rose to learn about resilience and powering through :)

It's worth repeating over and over that petitions are NOT processed by order received; people who applied after you, may get their NOA2s before you, and that's how it is. If petitions were worked on in the order they were received they would still be working on some ridiculously far away batch, such as March 2017 - so as flawed as the system may seem, it's likely also the best they can do.

My NOA2 took exactly six months, hoping it's sped up more by now. Good luck all of you!
