Comments : We received our interview letter beginning of January and it was scheduled at the San Jose Field Office. We prepared all the information asked for in the letter and brought it for our interview. We also asked a friend to come along as an interpreter, but the IO didn't even let him come in. They said they had their own interpreters if needed but wanted to do as much without one since my husband was able to understand basic English. The letter said that we would ba e to provide our own interpreter so I guess it depends on the office and what is available. Interview went fairly well, mostly went over the application and asked my husband some of the yes and no questions. We gave our updated address because we had just moved. Our medical was missing from the file and he said we would have to redo it so I was quite upset about that. He said case looked pretty straightforward but he would be sending an RFE. We waited for over 2 weeks and I made a service request to have them please send the RFE. A week later, the status changed daying a new card was being produced and he was approved! So they must have found the medical exam somewhere, hooray! Approval notice arrives today and green card arrives this Saturday.

Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : April 6, 2019
Embassy Review : We arrived the day before the interview and stayed at a hotel called Hotel Garden Patk Hospitality. We went the next morning around 6:30 by auto and arrived in about 10 minutes. After waiting across the street they called for any 7:15 appointments. We left our phones in hotel and just came with papers and spending money. We went through security and then went to another line where they arranged our papers and then got a token. After waiting for about 15 minutes we were called to a window and we were asked for the papers (birth certificate plus copy, notarized translation plus copy, medical packet, passport, PCC original and copy, my i134 and some tax documents). He scanned through my i134 packets for both me and my joint dpondor and only took thr latest tax return and my form. They gave back all originals except passport and PCC. We then sat down and waited to be called for appointment. We waited for about an hour. We went together to the window and were interviewed by a US lady with Hindi translator. She asked if I was the petitioner and I said yes. She did not ask me to sit down and let me stand there for the interview. She asked my fiance to raise his hand and swear to speak the truth. Below are some of her questions that I remember:

So how did y'all meet?
What does she do for a living?
When did you get married?
What are your plans for getting married?
Where will the reception be?
(To me) So tell me about this organization where you met, was it some sort of ashram?
(To me) Oh, hes a cook, what does he cook best?
(To him) Where did you learn to cook South Indian?
(To me) So ma'am, you do not meet the financial requirements but I see another tax return here. Who is (jointsponsor?) Do you have her i134 with you?
What does she do for a living?

she then told my fiance that if he ever feels unsafe by anyone to please talk to police and they will help him. then she gave us a white slip and said we were approved. The whole exchange took about 5 minutes.

Overall all very organized. They didn't ask to see any of the evidences I had brought.
The chairs were closely spaced in waiting area and you had to shift down the line occasionally whole waiting, but other than that all super smooth and organized.

Hi there, from what I know, the New Delhi consulate is no longer processing the K1 visa. Only Mumbai consulate is doing that. Are you sure this is the correct consulate you selected?
blank avatar Akipog on 2019-01-27 said:
Right you are, yes I knew New Delhi wouldn't be processing it, but i must have accidentally chosen Dehli.I am well aware it will be the Mumbai consulate. Thanks for spotting that.

@Pachuau Congratulations! I think you have to call the Embassy in Mumbai and ask them to ship to the correct address or email them at support-india@ustraveldocs.com. You can also have the packet emailed to you once your case arrives in Mumbai. I am planning on getting it through email because my fiancé goes back and forth between his mailing and physical address and that will work best for us.

Thank you so much, now i checked in ceac.state.gov- it says- 'your case is in transit to the consular section.Your interview date was provided to you by the national visa centre.' What do you get from that site now
blank avatar Akipog on 2019-03-06 said:
You know that New Delhi doesn't do K-1 interviews right? Only Mumbai. Yes, mine also says In Transit. Can you access this link? http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html?fromDayValue=03&fromMonthValue=03&fromYearValue=2019&shipperReference=EXP%2005%20MAR%202019A&toDayValue=06&toMonthValue=03&toYearValue=2019 You must be one of these. There is one package going to New Delhi (maybe yours), and 2 to Mumbai.
blank avatar Akipog on 2019-03-06 said:
I'm sorry I don't think that link worked. If you go here: http://www.dhl.com/en/express/tracking/shippers_reference.html and enter for reference number EXP 05 MAR 2019A and put before 3 days before and todays date, and select destination India, then there is information about the packets.

How did you guys managed to fix the interview so fast, im still stuck at payment, i have to wait for monday. Kindly share the important links, i would be very grateful. I just wonder will i be able to do biometrics in Delhi

If you fill out ds-160 and make a payment then you can schedule. We filled out ds-160 when we got the case number and we made payment when the case was in transit. The payment took one day to arrive then I was able to schedule appointment on ustraveldocs website. Our case showed to ready the next day so I think it wasn't too early to book. I really needed that date because I have vacation that following week. We also scheduled biometrics in Delhi on 26th and medical exam at Max hospital in 25th. After your payment goes through just click on the drop down menu and make sure Delhi is selected for VAC/biometric appointment, select any date at least 2 days before your desired interview date, then it will take you to interview date. For mine only April 5 showed up. Hopefully you get that day as well! Good luck.

I would wait for the email from ustraveldocs, I think they take a few days to respond and you'll have to wait until Monday when both of our packages arrive. I sent them an email 2 days ago and didn't receive anything yet. I would wait until next week. You only need some of the packet for the Medi-cal I think. My fiance just called Max hospital and they booked him an appointment over the phone. Don't worry, I'm sure the payment will go through sometime on Monday then you can book the appointment. I was not having any issues with the website.

Hello! I had few questions about the interview process if you can help me out. My Fiancee interview is on May 9th. 1. Is there something to purchase while inside? she can't take purse or anything so she will take some cash. 2. How long after the interview did you receive the visa in hand? Is there a premium service where you could receive it faster? I'm thinking that after her interview, i want her to leave around May 17th. Let me know if you can help me answer these questions.

Hi there. We didn't have to purchase anything, nor did I see anything to purchase. With K-1 visa all the fees are paid in advance. We brought cash with us and the documents and left everything else back at the hotel. We didn't bring water or food, and just had breakfast after we got back to the hotel (around 9:30 or 10). We had our visa interview on Friday, April 5 were approved, and they said it takes 3-5 days to pick it up. She said mostly takes about a week. We got a text message and email on Tuesday, April 9 around 1 p.m. and went to go pick it up. We bought a ticket for that evening back to USA. If they send it to you I think it takes a little longer obviously but May 17th sounds good if she has been approved. I would wait to buy the ticket until you have the visa. We waited until we had ours in hand, because we wanted to leave sooner rather than later.

(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
