I wonder why everyone is so anxious to get 'back home'. I have been at home in my new country since day one and never felt homesick for one day and I have been here for almost 4 months now. Yes I'd love to go out to lunch with my mom but we message and video chat regularly. Even if my EAD or greencard came in today I wouldn't be going back for at least another 6 months. Is it me? Has my homesickness just not hit yet?

I cant leave my house. I live in the country and cant walk anywhere. No public transit. No car. No way to meet friends. I get to leave the house maybe once a week. I'm not homesick. I'm get me out of here sick.

I hear you, I can’t get a drivers license in NJ until I receive that card. And we live out in the sticks so I can’t even walk anywhere while my husband is at work. It’s a struggle now. Stay strong :)

Wow, word for word I’m in the same situation. It’s so tough. I hope this gets easier once we can drive and go to work. And travel to our family and friends. Good luck :) let’s try to stay positive

Request for initial evidence! Just got an update that they mailed a request for initial evidence on my form i-131 (travel document) with receipt date August 2. I’m glad they at least touched my case. But no idea what this could be about since I followed the guides very carefully.

Damn I'm really glad I could have my 1 year DL, even drove a little with my expired one. I can't imagine staying all the time at the apartment I would have gone crazy! No wonder why you spent a lot of time on VJ!

Good luck and don't worry each day passing makes you closer from the EAD and GC :)

Congrats!

My interview is also scheduled on Janaury 10th in Boston. :)

I am not sure about the medical exam though. I did my medical exam back in Germany (Freiburg) in April. I had all necessry vaccinations (except the flu shot) and I sent the DS-3025 in our AOS package to USCIS. However, shortly after submitting I received a letter of courtesey from USCIS saying that I didn't provide the I-693 (medical exam)....It also says that evidence might be necessary for the interview. Now I am not sure if I have to redo the medical exam to be on the safe side for the interview. Ayone else with the same problem?

Thanks! :)

Greetings from Massachusetts!

Everyone receives the courtesy letter. K1s are an exception because they have already completed the medical.

Of course you didnt submit the I693 because K1s dont have to if their overseas medical was still valid and all vaccinations were complete at the time of AOS submission.

Your overseas medical is on file with USCIS and they will pull it out at your interview to confirm for themself. You supplied a photocopy of your DA3025 with your AOS application. You would just bring the original to the interview.

You would be wasting your money getting a new medical now. The only way they would need an I693 is if they lost your original medical or if your DS3025 was found to be incomplete OR completed incorrectly. You would only know that upon them advising you of this at the interview. The courtesy letter is a useless threat that you are reading into. Just go to the interview.

yay congrats to you too! :)

I only submitted the DS 3025 with my package but they didn't tell me that I didn't provide the I 693. Did you get a RFE or was it just in the interview notice? It's on my interview notice but I'm not going to get another one unless they tell me to do so at the interview.. I looked at your timeline and depending on when you had your medical it should still be valid. I believe it's valid for a year!? I'm not too worried about it and I don't wanna pay for an exam again if I don't need it.

Greetings from North Carolina!

PS: Visiting Boston next week! :D

It's my understanding that the DS-3025 is valid for 1 year, so if it's over that time you should bring the I-693 completed to the interview.....

You dont have to be so literal. The courtesy letter is very common and it wouldnt matter anyways because, like I said, it doesnt apply to K1s who submitted the unexpired medical at POE.
