What's everyones opinion on President Trump?

Was wondering what people's opinions are on Donald Trump? 18 months into his first term.

I'm almost certain he'll win re-election in 2020, because the Democrats right now are trying to mudsling at him and it's having a detrimental effect. They need to fight him on a legislative agenda rather than trying to cripple the administration with scandals, which isn't working and it plays into his 'fake news' platform.

Thought it would be an interesting question to pose on this forum, full of mainly intending immigrants. Me as the immigrant, I think he's doing OK so far - he's had some hiccups that I don't agree with, like pulling out of the Paris Accord etc. but he's slashed regulations on businesses, unemployment is way down and the economy is booming.

I always remember what Newt Gingrich said about Trump in 2020, if the economy is strong - he wins easily, if not, he struggles.

Thoughts?

Seriously though, Trump is doing fine right now.  I am not a big fan of his Tweeting (or anyone's Tweeting for that matter), but I understand his tactics of attacking his attackers.  The Lefties really don't know how to deal with a Republican that fights back so they are off balance.  I am not a big fan of his trade war/tariffs, but I do like what he did for taxes and that appears to be helping the economy.  Paris was a joke of an agreement that no country other than the US was going to meet, so I don't see that as a big issue, and his focus on protecting the border is fine by me (he is not against legal immigration).

Agreed.

Not a fan of his tweeting either. I think it's in his character to counter-punch. I dunno if any of you watch/listen to the Ben Shapiro show but I think he summed it up best, when he's attacked he feels the need to attack somebody, anybody to show that he's not weak.

Agreed. This whole fallacy that he's a racist, sexist bigot is insane to me. His entire track record seems to indicate otherwise. Like I said in my first post, the Democrats right now are trying to mudsling and hope some of it sticks. It's not working though..

But this is CEHST...... it's asking a lot down in here. ;) Ultimately someone is going to say how much they loathe him, which will lead to endless yelling of what a terrible person that is for doing so, and counter-arguing of what a terrible person someone is for liking him.

Truth is, if you asked for it: imo he's a loathsome individual on every level. But even that is far too simple a charge. I was raised to hold leaders to higher standard of ethics and morals, and recognize when something doesn't smell right. Some people just aren't ready to smell that stink yet. But that's America for you. We have a long way to go until 2020, and I suspect a lot more things are going to happen between now and then. If anyone thinks we gained something, I fear and am saddened by what we lost. But historically people tend not to worry about the long term consequences over short term gains.

I think he's an interesting character - do I think he's the perfect candidate to lead the US? No, not really - that being said I do think he's the direct creation of the Washington elite like the Clinton's (And I say that as a Bill Clinton fan, scandals aside - he had a successful Presidency). He pretty much got elected on a platform of 'Washington is in a bubble, they don't understand your plights - but I do' - now whether he meant that or not I think is irrelevant, because he's saying what the people of States like Iowa, Idaho and Ohio have been thinking for years.

And even now, from where I'm standing, the Democrats aren't learning their lesson from 2016 - they're not addressing the reasons why Clinton's turnout was so poor per the electoral colleges (alright she won the popular vote, but the popular vote doesn't really matter in the US). They're still trying to cripple the administration with scandals that never really lead anywhere, instead of recognizing that the way to beat Trump is to do it on a legislative battlefield. They're not going to beat him by responding to his insults.

And now I hear rumors that Sanders is going to run again in 2020, and whether or not he does  I don't know - but it would be a mistake IMO. I just don't see how the answer to Donald Trump is by going further to the left of a base of Democratic voters who already feel somewhat alienated by the party.

Overall I think he is doing a good job. That being said I didn't vote for him expecting him to be a choir boy and I disagree with him in some key areas. I challenge anyone though to find a candidate they agree with 100%. Here is the good and the bad in my opinion.

The good:

-tax cuts

-job creation policies (though I don't believe any president has full control over this his policies are helping)

-GDP above 4% (same thing as job creation policies)

-immigration policies

-staying out of fraudulent Paris climate accord

-staying out of TPP and trying to renegotiate NAFTA

-attempting to get us out of Obamacare and ending Obamacare tax penalty (though it would be nice If republicans in Congress would grow a spine and back him on this)

-attempting peace deal with North Korea (only time will tell if this will be successful)

-right to try law

The bad:

-getting involved in Syria

-not getting out of Afghanistan

-not immediately firing Obama hold overs who are working to sabotage his agenda

-hiring people like John Bolton

-not firing Jeff Sessions for the horrible job he is doing

- the border wall (I support his overall immigration policy but I believe a physical wall will have little impact)

-moving Israeli embassy to Jerusalem (although he did follow through on his campaign policy in this regard)

I am probably missing some things but you get the idea. For those of you who have accused me of being a lock step Trump cult follower hopefully this post will put that notion to rest.

Bernie Sanders insulted me personally with his diatribe about white people not knowing what it is like to be poor. I was raised by a single mother (my father passed away when I was a baby) with two brothers. My mother worked 2 full time jobs and we were still below the poverty line so don't tell me white people don't know what it's like to be poor. Socialist cult leaders like Bernie Sanders don't know what it's like to work for anything they have.

Did you see the clip where Alex Jones from Infowars confronts Sanders in an airport and mentions that comment about how him saying white people don't know what it's like to be poor is inherently racist?

Good list, pretty much how I feel also. I'm especially impressed with his work on the Korean peninsula. There hasn't been an Administration this active (and getting results) on the Korean Peninsula since Eisenhower.

Same here but it's like the Philippines as well. My wife is happy with Duterte but she wishes he would shut his mouth sometimes, I am the same way with Trump.
