I am a Chicago February Filer and I currently have my i751 & N400 pending.

I received  an update today saying my n400 interview is now scheduled, however my ROC has yet to be approved. Does anyone know what will happen since Chicago does not do combo interviews?

They will interview your N400 regardless the current status of the i751. However, the N400 even if the interview is successful you will not be approved immediately until the i751 has been reviewed which can happen in a week or two or several weeks. 

 

Is it a rule in chicago that say they don't do combo interview?

 

my thoughts to you is to go with your spouse since you are applying under the marriage rule. That way IN CASE the adjudicating officer wants to do a combo then you're in safe hands.

When did you file for your  I-751?

I filled I-751 in March 2017 and N-400 in February 2018 and still nothing for me. I am in Salt Lake 14-18 month waiting time ....

Finally got my oath ceremony schedule, it’s on September 21st. I will be able to vote in November after all.

I am also in Salt Lake City. For my wife, we filed the I-751 in February 2017 and the N-400 in February 2018 and we're still waiting.

 

We still haven't received the new 18 month extension letter relating to the I-751. I think it will be expired by the time we receive that. I found it's a tremendous hassle trying to renew a passport from the Philippines while we've been waiting for all of this. Being in Utah, she had to physically show up in San Francisco at the consulate and then it takes a couple of months to have it sent back.  Do yourself a favor and don't let it expire while waiting. Plan ahead, even if you don't think you will need to use it because "she will be a citizen soon" and you don't have any plans to travel, and for the USA you only have an expired resident card, an expired extension letter, and no idea when that will be finished. USCIS won't add the I-551 stamp to an expired passport.

 

Question---

When we receive our notice , does our 12 year old daughter need to attend the (assuming combo) interview?

 

She is visiting family overseas and because she's a minor, it's a tremendous travel expense and inconvenience to do the back and forth runaround if not necessary. I'm assuming if I didn't file the N-400 yet, the I-751 ROC would be approved without an interview, and -then- after filing the N-400, our daughter would not have to attend the N-400 interview for my wife (which would then automatically give our daughter citizenship). I know, better safe than sorry and bring her, but I haven't read of any experiences here relating to this, and I'm sure I'm not the first one in this situation.

The passport is on the way!

 

We applied at about 3 p.m. Friday, August 17th, after the Naturalization Ceremony.  The clerk at the Hudson, NY, Post Office was good - she told us, up front, that the passport agency (Philadelphia for us) would not get the application until Monday morning (it was delivered at 4:59 a.m.).  Looks like the passport was mailed back to us yesterday at noon, from Hot Springs (near Little Rock), Arkansas.  It will get to us tomorrow (Saturday).

 

We paid for expedite service ($+60) and Priority Mail (1-2 day service).  So all-in-all - it took them two days (Monday - Wednesday) to produce the passport, plus 4 days of mail transport to and from.

 

Just thought you might like to know the timing...

 

Added info...I have the US Postal Service's Informed Delivery Service - like many of you.  I went to my "dashboard" today to see if I could see the passport.  There was only one piece of mail listed, and since the passport isn't a "normal" envelope, I thought maybe it wouldn't show.  At the bottom of my screen, I noticed that the USPS had a "chat" function, so I thought - what the hey - I'll ask.  Glad I did.  The service rep explained how the passport (since I paid for Express Delivery) would have a tracking number, and, therefore, show up under the "packages" section.  No picture, he said, but the tracking number will show.  So I checked my dashboard, and sure enough, the package, which was mailed from Little Rock on Wednesday, showed up with delivery scheduled for tomorrow!

Looking for some advice.    Filed our N400 in February, living in NYC and our timeline is showing 12 months for completion (February 2019).

We had been planning on taking a trip to New Zealand in February 2019.   Does anybody know how accurate the timeline is for NYC?    From what I can see online

none of the NYC Feb filers have interviews scheduled. 

If we do go ahead and book our trip and we get notification that the interview is scheduled for when we are out of the country  how difficult is it to reschedule or is that just a bad idea?   

Apologies if this has been asked before , I couldn't find the answer online.

It might b done till that but by chance if still not done ur citizenship then just let them know that ur out of country and they reschedule the interview date without any issue but it might take littel longer the new date!

Don't trust their timeline, if your trip coincide with your interview it will take more time if you reschedule. I've seen people complaining. Therefore I've been waiting since June for my oath, I was planning a trip for July-August, I wished I had gone to this trip bc now I'm still waiting....That sucks. My advice: Go to your trip... lol
