  1. Hey. I saw there was a similar thread for 2016 and 2017 but I couldn't find one for 2018. Would you be interested in following the progress of other New York filers? I thought we could discuss our timelines, interview experiences with the local offices, and keep track of when EADs will start coming in. Anyone interested? @NYLondon @Michelle M @Penny&Lee @blenheim @Filip and Alix @AndreaPerkins Please tag any other NY filers you may know.
  2. Hello, I wanted to start a new thread for those of us who just sent in our i60a Wavier packet in 2018. I just received our receipt notice today 3/1 and our case is in the Nebraska Service Center. I have read on other threads that this is something new for 2018? I wish everyone luck and hopefully we can move on to the next part quickly!!!😉😀 Wavier received 2/12/18 Receipt received 3/6/18
  3. Hi everyone! As San Fernando Valley is not in the list of field offices on visa journey timeline, it is hard to find process information on it. (From the posts of fellow vj members it looks like they are around July to October 2017 filers at the moment) just checking to see if there are any other out there? SFV field office looks pretty backlogged so there should be someone around here... (If you’re not sure and from Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard and north LA there is a chance that you are. You can check your field office on uscis web site)
  4. I guess I'll start an April thread since my package should be delivered today by 8 pm. Hurry up and wait...
  5. My DACA expired October 2018 and a lawyer is telling me that I am able to renew it. He wants $1500 and the $495 for the application fee. My husband and I dont want to lose that money and we've been reading online that it is not possible to renew your DACA after it expired.
  6. It being late October, and no October filers for 2018 found on the site, so I started this one. I am a USC living in Brazil and petitioning for my Brazilian wife of 30 years. It's complicated, but the basics are that I am are applying for a resident visa for my wife for the second time, the first being granted in 1989 after our marriage in Texas in 1988. We lost the visa in 2014 in part because of my ignorance of immigration rules and because of family medical situations in Brazil that prevented my wife from traveling. In 1989 the procedure was very simple. Today it's become 10x more complicated due to 9/11. Since we both live outside the USA we are using a state-side lawyer to be sure all paperwork is as correct as possible. Turns out I would have submitted my I-130 in March, but due to using a lawyer, it was only submitted in October. I hope that at least it goes through without a hitch. On one hand she already has a SSN and it was necessary to include her old Resident Visa ID# on the application. Don't know if this will delay or speed up the process. Based on Oct 2017 filers, we might be looking at a long year ahead of us. 10/05/2018 I-130 sent 10/08/2018 I-130 received Chicago Lockbox
  7. Hey friends, creating this thread so we can get help from our fellows who have/had there interviews in islamabad embassy. Please do let us know the experiences, tips and advices. Information related to medical or anything that can help
  8. Hi, I created this post to keep in touch all of us who filed as applicants from F2A category. Specially the ones of us that filed with Pending 1-130, so we can keep in touch. My timeline: I-130 filed on Dec 19th, 2016 I-130 still pending as of time of filing. AOS package sent March 1st, 2018 AOS package arrived Chicago Lockbox on March 4 (Sunday) Bank notified us about a check transaction on March 14 at 5.48 a.m. E-Notifications received via email and via sms on March 14 at 11.48 p.m. Waiting for physical Notice of Action. Now it's time to wait.
  9. Hi, I have a question on I-130 processing in F2A category. My I-130 PD is May 4,2018 at CSC.I know i have to wait for some more time for my I-130 approval as i have waited for this long(1 year and 3 months now) I have seen lots of approvals from Jan,Feb,March and April ,2018 in the facebook group i follow ,even though the USCIS processing time webpage shows Case inquiry date as August ,2017. I am happy that things are moving fast or people with PD in 2018 are getting approvals. But i have the following questions. Does the I-130 approval is based on PD or based on PD and country.? I know that when the beneficiary is not in USA,the application goes through NVC. And most of the approvals for I-130 i noticed seems to be for application with beneficiary outside of US.Am i wrong on this, Appreciate your thoughts on this.
  10. Hi All, My son and I have been approved by the NVC for our IR1 Visa’s since the middle of June 2018. Now we are awaiting our interview date at the Montreal Consulate. Anyone know how long it currently takes to receive an interview date in Montreal, Canada? Thank you in advance for your knowledge and insight

  12. We have a new tax preparer for 2018. I made it really clear at the outset I did not want to cut any corners. When we looked over our taxes (sadly after I had signed off on them) I found that she had missed $6000, of income-one of four rental incomes. I can't say for sure that I gave her that amount specifically, but I did supply 4 sets of deductions and explained in detail which places were rented, and actually asked about specific deductions pertaining to this rental. To me, it should have been obvious there were 4 rentals (and hence 4 incomes) but she only put 3 on our 1040, and put someone else's rental income (under 3000) with those expenses. I think she misunderstood everything I explained to her about our rentals and didn't follow up to clarify. I take responsibility for some of this confusion, and if it ended here that would be fine. But there was also a Roth conversion (for which she had the 1099R ) that she failed to put as a taxable rollover. I asked her to amend the return, and discussed the rent and the rollover, and a few other items. She had assumed the rollover wasn't taxable based on the 1099R (which clearly showed the money in "taxable" box). So I called the investment company and called her back immediately after our meeting. When I got the amended return there were a few more errors not on the first 1040 (like not taking taxes from my husband's gross income). But the worst is that the rollover is still listed as not taxable. In her email about this she said "You will not have to pay tax on the $xxxx Roth distribution as you held it as a Roth IRA for more than 5 years – this results in it not being taxable." This is clearly wrong-it was a Roth conversion-not a Roth distribution. Her lack of understanding about this makes me question her "enrolled agent" status. How could anyone think I could move money from a tax deferred account to a no tax account and the IRS would never get their taxes? Because she missed this amount (twice) other income of mine then should have been included in our total income, and hence should have been taxed. The amount we will owe is about $4000 with whatever penalties and interest is due. She billed us $700 plus $250 to amend (I have not yet paid her). I have paid a CPA $500 to review the amended returns for errors and will need to pay this new person approx $400 more to send in a better amended return. Does anyone have ideas about my recourse for this? How do I proceed? I don't think she should be paid for this, and I'm especially worried it will affect our immigration case, and I'd like to avoid the stress of an audit. If I don't pay her will this affect my credit score? Any ideas?
  13. Hello! Who else is a fellow May filer? May this journey be easy and speedy for us all!
  14. Hey guys I wanted to start something for all the Charlotte, NC filers doesn’t matter what month.. just curious to see everyone else’s timeline to so I can know what to expect for mine. i filed in April 16, 2019 heres my timeline so far. 4/15/19 mailed 4/16/19 USCIS received 5/9/19 early walk in for biometrics (original date 5/26/19) 5/10/19 fingerprints received and reviewed 5/23/19 case is ready to be scheduled im so anxious ... 15. Has anyone received an approval for an immigrant visa after receiving a 221g for social media /email? Not for a DS5535 necessarily, but that's also of interest.
  16. Hey everyone! Any July 2018 filers around? We sent ours on July 5th, waiting for NOA1 Good like and happy waiting!
  17. My husband's interview is next week and I'm worried that since my 2018 transcript is not uploaded to CEAC (It was not available to download at the time of submitting all docs to NVC) that they will try to turn my husband away and tell him he needs to upload that first before he can be approved. I see another VJ member whose wife had her interview in Casa yesterday was told this. One person advised me to just upload it now but then another told me its not a good idea. I just don't want to mess anything up. He has my 2018 transcript with him to bring to the interview but apparently they want it on CEAC instead. What should I do?? I'm so stressed. I should also add our visa application status was updated on 4/15/19 (tax deadline and 4 days after we got the appointment letter) and then again on May 3rd. So I'm wondering if that's because the consulate was checking our file on CEAC to see if we uploaded the 2018 transcript.
  18. Hi there! I've noticed that no one opened a discussion for July 2018 AOS filers, so I decided to do it. Since we're all going to be anxious, why not share and experience the anxiety with the online community? HA! Let me start by sharing a few things about me. I'm a veterinarian in my home country and my husband is a physician. One day my "then-fiance-now-husband" surprised me with a visit to the county office to get a marriage license! After a week we got married by a retired judge, it was a very simple and sweet ceremony and I've never been happier in my life. I'm currently a homemaker/housewife and I spend some time volunteering at the local animal shelter when I'm not busy studying for my USA vet boards. I do reccomend finding something to during the wait, it will definitely help with the anxiety. Good luck to everyone!
  19. Hello all, I'm hoping someone will be able to offer some advice, I've see a few posts on various forums about this particular matter but have yet to see an answer or definitive outcome to this situation. Some context about my case - For nearly two years I have been working on my O1 visa case with my lawyers; Kate Raynor & Associates. I have two job offers in Los Angeles waiting for me as a musician; one to join a band and the other to be an on call session guitarist to one of LA's top song writer/producers. We submitted my case with USCIS in June 2017 to which I was asked for more evidence. I was annoyed but did as requested and gathered more evidence then re-submitted at the end of October 2017. I then received a positive outcome mid December 2017 stating my O1 visa had been approved. I booked an appointment for my interview and to send off my passport to get stamped at the US embassy in London on January 3rd 2018. The interview didn't go as expected as I was told they would need to review my case further, the next day I received an email from the embassy with a 'notification of revocation'. The decision will now go back to USCIS who will either agree with the London embassy's recommendation to revoke my visa, or they might still think I deserve the O1 (I would think they would side with the embassy though). The average response time from USCIS seems to be about 6-12 months, possibly longer. As anyone can understand this is pretty ridiculous as no job offer will realistically wait indefinitely for an answer, even if it is positive, especially in the music industry. I have been given no specific reason as to why they are trying to revoke my visa other than one short line in the email saying 'The request for revocation is based on further administrative review of the applicant’s qualifications conducted subsequent to your visa interview at Embassy London.' This seems incredibly unreasonable as the interview only lasted about 5 minutes, I was asked about 5--10 questions which were somewhat vague, so I was unable to talk about 90% of the evidence that granted me the initial approval. It also appeared the consular officer who interviewed me had no previous knowledge of my case, so was basing the entirety of his decision on my answers in that moment. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience on how to resolve this matter quickly, ideally with the visa ultimately being approved? (as it has been approved in principal in the US). This decision will have massive long term ramifications on my life as, from now on, if I travel to any other country and they ask if I have ever been denied a visa, I will have to say yes and explain why. This will obviously count against me and will potentially impact my ability to work as, being a musician, I'm often required to travel all over the world for gigs. So the embassy's decision to refuse a visa to work in the US will now risk my ability to work anywhere else. It will also affect the band and producer who have offered me jobs as they will now have to start looking for other guitarists to fill my spot until this matter can be resolved, which again will affect their ability to work and progress. Thanks for reading, I can give more info if needed, I didn't want to post too much straight away as that'll probably scare people off! Jake
  20. Hi Visajourney members! I wanted to know that if the sponsor has filed Tax extension 2018 with IRS then is the receipt(that extension was accepted) enough for the interview Or do I need a copy of the form as well? Thanks in advance.
  21. Has anyone heard of a man getting a fiancé visa from Afghanistan recently? My fiancé is there now and has been waiting 6 months since his interview. Our case is in AP. Has anyone heard of AP taking less than a year for a man from Afghanistan in 2018/2019? I know 2 women who were only in AP for less than 2 months. But I haven’t heard of any men getting visas.
  22. filed n-400 Online= OCT 7 2018 PF= OCT 17 2018 Review biometrics= Oct 29 2018 Status= pending for interview Sacramento please free to add timeline thanks good luck everyone.
  23. As of today makes 282 days since the service center has received our petition . I’ll never stop praying or taking any course of action to get a decision made on this petition . Our case was out of the normal processing time 12/22/2018 where I sent the initial service request , that service request was responded to with a generated email stating to wait 60 days ( which will make 10 months ) this case is with an officer and further review needed. I contacted my senator and 5 weeks later I received a response postal mail that even after over 9 months our case was still not assigned and not in queue. The other senator responded to us after receiving our privacy from 3 weeks later stating at this time it was best to wait 30 days and contact them( aka do nothing ) The most recent course of action that has taken place is where I contacted Ombudsman for assistance however I received a email stating they’re closing our case because we are in the normal processing time . Once I sent Ombudsman a detailed email with receipts stating that information was incorrect I received a voicemail stating our case was back open and an apology for the mistake . Also I have sent in another service request as a USCIS rep has informed me I can submit one every 30 days from the initial response which I received 01/02/2019. I can’t believe this is my life , 😔😢💔. I’ve have interactions with certain people on this forum whom filed before us yet I tell them they’ve waited so long then they are approved and in the end we are waiting longer than them. My husband and I are heartbroken by all of this , and it feels like I’m living in a nightmare. Every avenue takin to get answer has been shut down with a generated response and rudely told to wait as if almost 10 months hasn’t been enough time s/N: Also I have spoke to two tier 2 reps . One encounter was nice and she said your case should be assigned soon however that never happened and the other tier 2 rep refused to submit a service request on our behalf VERBATIM: letting me know those were a waste of time and case approvals can happen with 11-12 months and everything in my case looked good and to wait .
  24. Hello my fellow May filers. I know a lot of us just got approved, so I decided we can track our NVC process here. NVC usually assigns your case to an agent after 4 - 6 weeks. After that, you have to pay your fees and submit your beneficiary documents. They will then schedule an interview after checking the documents for accuracy. I’ve read from another forum, that this proces is taking about 2 - 3 months.
