If a mother steals bread to feed her hungry child, should the child be punished too?

That is easy, don’t prosecute the child, but require them to testify against the adults that committed the crime.

If the child is in the country illegally, then yes.  Said child should go to jail with his/her mother.
If the child lives in the country illegally, then no.  Said child can go home to the family while they wonder how they will bail the mother out of jail.

You didn't get what I meant... As far back as in October Trump had the chance to give CHIP this 6 year funding but he didn't. NOW that the Democrats threw in DACA he threw in 6 year funding so he could make the dems look bad. DACA recipients are not bad people. They are children of parents who wanted a better life for their children. The children shouldn't be punished for their parents decision.

The Dems don't really need Trumps help to look bad.

Nice deflection.  They are still illegals.

That's not a deflection, you offered a very weak analogy.

Visiting a theme park is not the same thing as being brought to another country and growing up there for years. I'm sure you know that, but it doesn't fit your agenda.

Of course I know that.  And while I feel for the kids, their parents screwed up, and they must follow a process that unscrews the mess created by the parents.

I have no agenda in the matter, so don't try to paint me into one.

I didn't mean agenda in a nefarious way...I meant just your opinion on that matter.

You can't compare them to kids who went to visit Disneyland. I'm sure you know that, but based on your opinions here it seems like you would want to do so. You offered it up as an example in the first place...would be strange if you weren't trying to use it to argue your view.

My opinion is that the situation sucks for the kids.  Why?  Because our government failed them 30 years ago, when they should have been deported and not allowed to grow up here in the first place.  Had their parents applied for legal immigration 30 years ago, they would be USC by now.  But that is not the route they chose, unfortunately.

And as those kids became adults, they learned right from wrong.  Why did they not, upon reaching the age of majority, go back to their home country and apply for legal immigration?  Because it’s too hard, too long, or too expensive?  Not a good reason, just a poor excuse.

And now that Obama promised them false hope in the form of delayed deportation that bypassed current immigration laws, and Trump is trying to make it right, Trump will be painted with the brush of a tyrant.  Oh well, I am sure he is used to it.

And here is another factoid about illegals in our country that perhaps people don’t consider on a daily basis... if they came here illegally, they are willing to break the law.  And those who are willing to break ONE law usually don’t have a problem breaking another law or five...

The solution is easy. Deport the parents and send the children back with them. That way the family is not broken up and the all get to return to the wonderful country they came from. It does not matter if the children have not lived there. It will be easy for them to adapt…just like their parents did many years ago.

Another overlooked part of illegal immigrants is the child tax credit.  THE ACTC allows illegals, who are NOT AUTHORIZED to work in the US, to claim a refund on the child tax credit.  In 2011, it was estimated that illegals did so to the tune of $4.2 BILLION dollars.

Think about that for a minute... $4.2 billion USD.  And I am not talking about DACA here.  They are eligible to work.

Really? President Trump has been an extraordinary leader in this case.  Instead of overstepping his authority like the previous POTUS, he is making Congress do their jobs......he is leading.....

So Congress is doing their job ? How so ? A shut down is not "doing their job".
Using DACA and CHIP as a pawn is not leading, it's sickening and political partisan theater.
Striking a deal and leading is something that obviously did not happen or else we wouldn't have a shut down.
According to Trump himself : the man on top is responsible for any shut down when he was mouthing off about Obama. He can eat crow now.
