My husband passed away, will I loose my green card?

So, from what I understand (please correct me if I'm wrong!)

So, I don't have to do this right away? Can I wait a couple of months, and then file the form? I know I have to do it before my card expires, but is it unwise to wait? Does it matter?

(Since the filling fee is almost 600USD I need time to get money...)

Speaking of that, do I have to redo my biometrics? I already did them when we filed for the green card. Is that not valid anymore?

And do I have to attach more evidence to prove our marriage was bonafide? Can I submit the copies of the evidence we used for my green card? I won't be able to show any joint bank accounts though...

He didn't have a will, since he died so sudden and unexpected.

I've signed a couple of things for him, but paper copies were never given to me for that.

His medical bills were paid by his mother. I was not on his health insurance. He put me on his car insurance in May though.

What if I'm not able to obtain medical records with information?

The hospital or clinic or whatever,

has a 'responsible person for medical bills'

listed in his file.

That person can request copies of everything.

For example, if that's his mother, then his mother can request copies of everything, and give to you.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

The form has already been stated, it's the normal I-751 to remove conditions.

Sorry for your loose. You will Not loose your green card. When it expires your gonna need his certificate of death to re apply. In cases of death, domestic battery one cannt not loose a green card.

I am so sorry about your husband passing away. May he rest in peace. As for green card matter, if anything confuses you, I recommend taking advantage of infopass so that you can directly talk with an immigration officer in person and you can get more information than phone calls. I went to infopass before applying for green card and it helped my husband and me a lot. Best wishes

My husband passed away last week after a long battle against severe leukemia.

We got married on 24th of July 2012, so we didn't even get to stay married for a whole year.

I want to stay in the US, but do I have to apply for a green card again?

Or will I just loose it now since he passed?

I hope your answers will ease my mind. I need to know what to do.
