I'm not in your boat (I filed for CR1), but I saw this commercial for a reality show for K1 filers on TLC and googled to find out more. It airs in mid January.

Just wanted to throw it out there to see what people think about how it's portraying the k1 immigration process. Interesting.

04/09/2013 Called USCIS-informed by Tier 2 officer that my case was transferred to Washington D.C. on March 13

09/05/2013 NOA2

09/27/2013 NVC received case

Submitted DS-261

Paid AOS bill

10/16/2013 Paid IV bill

10/19/2013 Submitted DS-260
10/21/2013 Mailed AOS and IV packages overnight

11/15/2013 IV package accepted/Checklist for AOS

01/26/2014-Husband's Medical Exam

02/13/2014-Interview- Approved, but the consular officer did not see I-864 joint sponsor documents, and sent my husband home with the packet of all the original documents, and told him to mail it in when he gets it. My husband realized that the "missing" documents had been there all along. Husband immediately mailed it back.

02/26/2014-Consular office received "missing" documents and gave it to CO for review

03/17/2014-Visa Issued!

03/20/2014- Received Visa

03/21/2014- POE!

September 10, 2009: Arrived for first meeting in-person!
June 17, 2010: Arrived for second in-person meeting and start of travel together to other areas of China!

September 1, 2010: Switched course from K1 to CR-1
December 8, 2010: Wedding date set; it will be on February 18, 2011!

December 21, 2023:  Production of new Green Card ordered - will be seeing USCIS again every 10 years for renewal

While this show will benefit couples by showing them issues they will encounter with all the adjustments that must be made, I'm not sure the show itself would stick to the actual truth and not exaggerate just to make it more interesting. Lets wait and see :D

Hopefully it will be realistic and not sensationalized for tv purposes. I think it would be really interesting to see other people's journey. And probably bring back some good and bad memories from the whole process for most of us. Thanks for the link mate, will keep an eye out for it :)

OK so i was watching TLC (The Learning Channel) and there is a new show starting on January 12th called "90 day Fiance" Has anyone else heard of this? it looks like it might be good but i hope that it is a positive show and not one that is putting down K-1 visas. I can't wait to watch

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

This comment, and a few others makes me wonder what type of relationships they searched out. They obviously looked for K-1 relationships where the parties are not really committed in the first place. I suppose the better to generate controversy and ratings.

"Louis decided to propose. Louis will not get married until his family is comfortable with the decision. Now Aya must win over not only Louis' two children but his ex-wife as well."

Who the heck tells his fiancee she must make his ex-wife happy before they can get married? This is either an awfully contrived story line, or a seriously messed up relationship.

I agree what does his ex-wife have to do with it?? If he needs to wait for approval on his decision, maybe he's not ready after all.

None. It's not interesting or exciting or entertaining and I suspect that Americans don't really care to know too much about it. This is going to be about the family drama and prejudices and stuff.

Exactly! The point of a fiancé visa is KNOWING you will marry when you file and you had already been in a relationship and engaged. This show makes it seem like its a visa to try to figure out if they should marry in the first place...just to try out living together once in America. Strange! Anywho, I will be tuning in of course as I am a reality show junkie. :)

TLC is seeing money there. With these statistics, this show is going to be " a Hollywood thing". Even cooking show like Hell's Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay was often over-dramatized and had been accused for being staged at some point. I have TLC on my cable but don't see the commercial yet about the show. Anyhow, I am stick with my favorite channel, Animal Planet.
