The most important thing at the moment is that you are listed on his travel orders. If you aren’t on his orders immigration will not count your time overseas as maintaining residency

To be clear are you asking about a passport from Myanmar so you can file an I-130 (which isn’t needed as other posters have noted)? You do need to get a Myanmar passport for your child just so they have it, you won’t need it for the CRBA but you will need to get your child a US passport after you get the CRBA. When your child leaves Burma they should have two passport but have to have a US one.

If she is the joint sponsor then I hardly think she actually hates you. That’s a huge commitment to make and it involves putting yourself in a position where you could potentially be sued by the government. It’s not something you do for someone you hate. She loves her son. So much so that she allows him to live with her and bring his wife into her home. That’s not the action of a person who hates you.

I think she hates the situation she finds herself in - and I can see why. Past retirement age but still working. Adult son living at home because he can’t get a job that pays enough to move out. Now the son is bringing his wife into the home. She had to sign a contract with the government and make a huge financial commitment so that her adult son can have his wife here. Yes, she’s very frustrated with the situation and rightly so. I don’t know how old you two are but if you are of the age where children are possible she may well be concerned that her son, who doesn’t even earn enough to support himself, is going to be adding not only a wife but also children to her household when she’s in her golden years and should be resting and relaxing.

Have you started looking for and applying for jobs here? I got my job before I moved here. I applied by email and was interviewed over Skype and started working 2 weeks after I arrived. With an immigrant visa you will be a permanent resident the minute you land and can work immediately. The sooner you start working, the sooner you can move out of her house. She’s doing a lot for you, more than she has to. She doesn’t hate you.

And please, don’t make this about race. Not every disagreement between people here is about race. I won’t deny that there are racial issues here in this country but if you come here with that attitude that everything is because of race you are in for a hard time. Her frustration with this situation has nothing to do with your skin. It has everything to do with two adults who should be standing on their own feet still depending on her for everything. I’d be angry too in that situation.

This is requested for item 1. Household Income so surely they aren’t asking for the same info twice.

As far as credit score the directions say you can send past monthly bills.
”If you do not have a credit report or credit score, provide documentation that demonstrates that you do not have a credit report or score with a credit bureau. You may provide evidence of continued payment of bills if there is no credit report or credit score.” To get a paper copy I would request a credit report by mail.

Right now Atlanta has a flight out tomorrow to Amsterdam. If you are really looking to get back then I would lookup inbound flights to the airports in the Netherlands and see which ones are still running. Book off of that info. Flightradar24 is helpful.

AnnaLee24 got a reaction from Jamie and Ben in DS-5540 Question 12? Help
The first line in question 11 says “for the purposes of this form public benefit means...”
so I would think question 12 wouldn’t apply but I would be very transparent and write “see attachment” in question 12’s explanation. Write a blurb you are not sure if this question means ever or just since 2/24. Get your husband to request his social security benefits letter and benefits application information include that and explain that he was on benefits 10 years ago, here is proof, also proof he hasn’t used any since. I if I was looking at that application I would think “okay, this person had a hard time, got assistance but has shown the ability to get off and stay off public benefits”. A good example how public benefits should work.

That is the most visual explanation of the public charge rule. After looking at the table I don’t think the public charge rule is as bad as originally thought. I think it will be the hardest on people that have had family members immigrate in the past and have different expectations.

That is good. If you were included in the household size to calculate eligibility then I would be a tad worried. Let me urge you to be honest. But now thinking I’m curious why you are even filling out that line, unless you or your husband has received public benefits in the past  12 days.

After your baby is born the hospital or midwife will have the mother fill out a form that looks something like this.
    https://www.chistlukeshealth.org/sites/default/files/English%20Form.pdf
Different states will have different forms but this is pretty standard. Make sure you fill out the form with the exact same name in your passport. The hospital or midwife will send the form to the county vital record office. In a few weeks you can go pick up the birth certificates make sure to get extra certified copies. Then you can apply for your child’s SSN after you get the birth certificates.
    Congrats on the baby!

I looked up Rwanda and they apparently do have joint accounts, well at least some couples do, but that is so interesting joint accounts are not a thing at all where you grew up. I wonder why? Well that is another day. But as for this post I have a question. Since the US has made it well known that they expect co-mingling of married couples does the US assess the lack of joint finances as a lack of ties to the family unit? When applying for a visitors visa does spending a long span of time outside of their home country count as a negative? The sister had to have spent years of school out of Rwanda to learn to be a neurologist. What about if someone has studied in the US then request to return on a visitors visa? Does that raise eyebrows. My thought train is the sister might have been seen as having more close ties to other countries over having ties to her country. I mentioned refugee because of the uptick of predominate women in their field claiming asylum.

From what I have read, as an outsider who’s only info off the subject is what you have said and that she was denied a visa, I think it is possible they assumed she would claim asylum. It is pretty common for leaders in their field to do this. Again, outside view. Your sister couldn’t have learned to be a neurologist in Rwanda that had to be a long time out of the country to go back. If she is good enough to be a head of a hospital in Rwanda she is good enough to get a job in the US, make bank, and enjoy the freedoms Americans have. It seems kinda weird for her to have her own bank account, is that common in Rwanda? Also, is men taking care of children common? Did your sister marry young? How old are her kids? Why aren’t they going or better yet invited to the wedding? Did you address the invitation to the whole family or just your sister?

I think her success is what is holding her back.

I've been helping you.  Instead of being rude to someone helping you, maybe you should actually read the Guides so you can help yourself.

    This is a do-it-yourself forum.

Pointing you to the Guides so you can read and understand the AOS process is better than you asking random questions about different parts of the AOS process.
