Agree.  There is no way he will escape supporting his child.  That could be why he withdrew his filing.   I would go after him tooth and nail for child support.

I would expect so he could stay in the US from a B1 entry by marrying a USC although that is just speculation.  The fact that he obtained an immigration benefit by lying is a big issue and as others have suggested, not a DIY situation.

Control over the Senate requires 60 senators, unless the Democrats decide to change Senate rules.
 
There won't be any immigration reform unless 10 Republican senators can be convinced.

Tenancy Agreement and Proof of Employment are probably the best ties you can demonstrate. Other ties would include, Foreign Accounts, Memberships of foreign associations, foreign driver's license, foreign property, arranged meetings and appointments following your visit. Any obligations that you can demonstrate that you need to return to your home country for is acceptable proof as well.

It's your civil right... Had nothing to do with background checks..
