AJ2019 got a reaction from Mandis in CARDS PRODUCTION
yes you are right there are delays with printing cards.
Of the two facilities where these credentials were printed, one, in Corbin, Ky., shut down production three weeks ago. The other facility, in Lee’s Summit, Mo., appears to be operating at reduced capacity.
Some 50,000 green cards and 75,000 other employment authorization documents promised to immigrants haven’t been printed, USCIS said in a statement. The agency said it had planned to escalate printing but that it “cannot speculate on future projections of processing times.”

AJ2019 reacted to Airline Pilot in Changing states during IR1 process
@Cndn Thanks for the info. Yes we have an attorney who is the most useless unhelpful person ever. I have an opportunity to move this winter within the same company and dont want anything to get messed up any worse than it already is. She has already lived in the US before and turned in her green card when I went to work in Montreal for an international organization. We had no idea that when that ended and I got a job back in the US this was going to happen. There seems to be no indication of anything happening anytime soon. Had I know this was going to take over 2 years I would have stayed there. By the look of things it appeared we would have had an interview scheduled in August this year prior to COVID. Look like next year for sure now.
@AJ2019 Thanks for the link. Now that everyone will work from home at my company I would like to move away from Boston where the cost of living is much much less. Especially seeing I have to pay for a house in Quebec in addition to the hideously expensive rent in the Boston area. I can get a mortgage for less than 1/3 of rent in Boston.

Job market is tough in America due to covid-19 situation and massive layoffs. However, your best bet is to keep applying, who knows you maybe the only one in your skillset for the job they are seeking. Good luck!

here’s another link for a similar question you asked. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear you get the conditional green card if you are not married.
https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/can-i-get-my-green-card-if-wife-cheated-on-me--2867165.html
It might be worth exploring how much goodwill you have with your spouse and may be get her help for the interview somehow, or maybe speak with the Ex on how important this is?

this link explains the VAWA option which I think has solid ground for emotional distress especially given the abortion of your baby.
Its probably best to get a lawyer to assist build your case.

AJ2019 reacted to T+E in USCIS Prepares to Decrease Staff by 70% (13 Thousand Workers)
USCIS is preparing to furlough 70% of its 20,000 person workforce unless Congress provides additional funding, according to a spokesperson. Congress was notified of USCIS's projected budget shortfall last month. While conversations with the Hill are ongoing, according to the agency's statement, preparation is underway for furloughs.
Approximately 13,400 employees will be notified whether they'll be furloughed beginning August 3, an agency spokesperson said. USCIS is primarily fee-funded and typically continues most operations during lapses in funding, such as last year's government shutdown. But during the pandemic, the agency suspended its in-person services, including all interviews and naturalization ceremonies.

AJ2019 got a reaction from NancyNguyen in Permium Processing
Unfortunately, spouses of US citizens are not exempt from the country ban, however, you are automatically considered for a waiver. Based on the criteria below, you qualify for a waiver, but it's approved on a case-by-case basis. Keep good documents and records regarding your marriage (communications, visits, etc.) and that will help your case.
"An applicant who is subject to either P.P. 9645 or P.P. 9983 and otherwise eligible for a visa, but who does not qualify for an exception, will be refused but is automatically considered for a waiver by the consular officer during the visa interview. Each applicant’s eligibility for a waiver is evaluated on a case-by-case basis; waivers may not be granted categorically. A waiver may be available if:
d. the foreign national seeks to enter the United States to visit or reside with a close family member (e.g., a spouse, child, or parent) who is a United States citizen, lawful permanent resident, or alien lawfully admitted on a valid nonimmigrant visa, and the denial of entry would cause the foreign national undue hardship;"
Good luck!

AJ2019 got a reaction from ClaireL in Were K1 Mentioned in NEW EO?
Going back to the original Executive Order (EO):
"Section 1. Suspension and Limitation on Entry. The entry into the United States of aliens as immigrants is hereby suspended and limited subject to section 2 of this proclamation."
Since K1' visas are not immigrant visas (see Dept. of State link below), the EO does not apply to K1s. Therefore, K1's should not be affected on the USCIS level. However, as other users experienced there are delays on the Embassy levels due to each country's own Covid-19 reopening procedures.

Overview: What Is a K-1 Visa?
The fiancé(e) K-1 nonimmigrant visa is for the foreign-citizen fiancé(e) of a United States (U.S.) citizen.

AJ2019 reacted to VISBIS in Questions about Changing the Last Name After Marriage,
It might since you could end up getting an RFE along the process if there are inconsistencies. I think it’ll be easier for you to get the name change later. As the petitioner, if you do a name change now, you will have to change your name with your employer, DMV, Social security office for starters. And with COVID, it might take forever for you to get these done from these offices.

I sent the birth certificate with the package and they requested the birth certificate from me again as well. I just sent the same one again as it satisfies the criteria they mention. I got mine from union council with stamp and all the necessary details.
Some people have mentioned that USCIS can ask for same documents again. Reason is unknown 😁

You need to send what they consider a proper birth certificate. You can check on the reciprocity page from USCIS to see where to get it.

It means that you are not required to redact SSN in divorce proceedings, but you allowed to redact. In your case, you would want to redact.

AJ2019 got a reaction from TBoneTX in Divorcing an abusive husband
In NYC:
Information to Redact (CPI)
The Court wants you to leave out private information about yourself and others when you file your papers. This information is called confidential personal information or CPI. Here is the list of the CPI to redact and how to redact it:
Taxpayer ID numbers, social security numbers, and employer ID numbers are redacted by leaving out everything but the last four numbers. For example: xxx-xx-1234. Dates of birth are redacted by leaving out everything but the year. For example: xx/xx/1996.
Redaction rules apply to Supreme, County, District, City, Civil, Town, and Village Courts. The rules do not apply to Family, Criminal or Surrogate’s Court cases. Also, papers do not have to be redacted in the following types of cases:
divorce Article 81 of the Mental Hygiene Law name changes Vehicle and Traffic Law violation of a city, town or village ordinance
https://www.nycourts.gov/CourtHelp/GoingToCourt/redaction.shtml
so in Divorce cases not required to redact your SSN but you can 😃👍

AJ2019 got a reaction from laylalex in Divorcing an abusive husband
Question, what are you trying to keep from your husband? Your address, your SSN, or both? Because, as far as I know, SSNs are not supposed to be part of a public court filing, and if part of a filing document, it has to be redacted. What city/state will you be filing?

AJ2019 got a reaction from MovingToFlorida in More Immigration Restrictions?
The president’s immigration advisers are drawing up plans for a coming executive order, expected this month, that would ban the issuance of some new temporary, work-based visas. The order is expected to focus on visa categories including H-1B, designed for highly skilled workers, and H-2B, for seasonal migrant workers, as well as student visas and the work authorization that accompanies them.
