My fiancée was asked for my I-134 and tax return last week. Manila embassy 12/19/19. Maybe it’s rare, but it does occur.

We had our interview today. We’re technically in administrative processing because my fiancé had to do a sputum test. We’re in a weird situation where he had to travel from his country (Cuba) to another (Guyana) for the interview. So he’ll go back to Cuba, I’ll go back to the US and wait 8 weeks (plus processing) before he gets the visa. But I asked at the end of the interview if we were approved pending the medical results and they said yes 😊 So we’re happy and a little sad and nervous at the same time.

So! A quick update. The embassy emailed me back saying this about the Petitioner misspelling:

"As long as your biodata is correct on the visa foil and matches your passport information no need to cancel the visa and reprint."

I'm printing a copy of this email and taking it with me every stage of the process in case I get questioned or get any sort of hassle 😂😂

My fiancée had her interview earlier today (Philippines is 14 hours ahead of my time). My fiancée said it went well. The CO was nice, but talked fast 😊.  She did ask a lot of questions and did ask for my I-134 and tax transcripts. They kept her passport and said to expect the passport with visa in a couple of weeks.
Thanks to everyone here for your help. It really made this process easier. Thanks to this forum we knew exactly what to submit and what to expect.

They have no idea what they are talking about. And quite frankly, it sounds like they are living in their own bubble of beliefs. I went through the process of my now wife's immigration AND have helped a few of her family members with theirs. All without the help of a lawyer. And I have not seen any lawyer speed anything up.

If I knew any of your coworkers I would challenge them a years pay to prove a lawyer speed things up.

P.S. Visajourney is a DIY site. If everyone went through a lawyer VJ would not be as popular or good as it is now. The vast majority of the hundreds of thousands of users who have visited this site did it without a lawyer.

My fiancée just completed her exam at SLEC. If there had been any indication she needed further testing for TB I would have not liked the additional wait. But I would accept it and be thankful they are precautious with a dreadful disease. And if after the 8 weeks test she was clear, great. If not and she had to live in Manila for 6 months for treatment; again the wait and additional expenses wouldn’t be pleasant but I know it’s the best way to deal with a potentially deadly disease. I’m glad USEM uses SLEC medical facility.

You are wrong. Sorry chap. The visa expiration date is tied to the medical but the embassy follows the recommendation from the medical facility who has the leeway to indicate what date they will use. Anytime you have additional testing it influences the expiration date. It has been that way for the 6 years I have been here answering questions, especially to those in the PI because of the rampant TB problems. Further information is contained in the following link.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Medical examination results are valid for six months in normal circumstances. But if you have certain medical conditions your examination results could expire in as little as 3 months. In any case, you should not have your medical examination until the NVC notifies you of your interview appointment date. You may be denied entry to the United States if your medical examination results expire before your arrival.

Firstly, thank you for all the amazing advice on this forum. I would not have felt as prepared for my interview otherwise. I want to do a few separate posts on the petition, medical and interview. First, here is our timeline:

03-Oct-2018 Petition filed (Filed in Texas)
    26-Oct-2018 Confirmed petition received
    .
    .
    Long wait
    .
    .
    .
02-Jun-2019 RFE - Out attorney (which was the biggest waste of money) did not include the last page on our application form, her reasoning was it was blank. This was resent to include all pages.
06-Jul-2019 Petition approved and sent to NVC
19-Aug-2019 Welcome email from NVC and request to complete DS260 and file supporting evidence.
26-Aug-2019 Submitted (You may ask why the delay? Out attorney didn't have all the information together as we expected. I also stressed to her that we needed the tax transcripts after reading on the forum yet she submitted the application without.)
03-Sep-2019 Request for additional sponsor information, tax transcripts and missing W2s (Frustrating as we provided this to these to the attorney)
    20-Oct-2019 Case Complete
25-Nov-2019 Email from NVC and interview scheduled 06Dec
    29-Nov-2019 Medical
    06-Dec-2019 Interview & APPROVAL

We would have had our interview sooner, but there was several delays on the way because of our attorney. That's a whole other story though.

We are just so grateful after a long wait we have now been approved and I can not wait to finally join my wife in the US to start our new life together. Good luck to everyone still on their way to approval, I know the wait can feel impossible at times.

was at the window for less than 2 minutes.
she didn’t ask for any of my affidavit of support evidence at all. I was surprised as I thought the evidence (tax returns etc) was a pretty big deal?

This has happened to others. Just so you are clear on this- the K is dead. You need to move on to your next step which is the CR visa, so start making plans for a marriage and get the CR paperwork going. IMO no one really posts back what happens in their situations because nothing really happens... An error like that on the DS is not as big an issue for the CR visa. For the K visa it is a big issue. You need to be single for the K visa so having a DS that stated you were married with no divorce decree can not be overcome. For the CR visa you need to show you are married (which you would have a marriage certificate) The discrepancy on the DS also comes up however because you have a marriage certificate (and you wouldnt have been able to obtain one with out being single) they are able to accept that the marriage certificate was issued correctly (to a single person) and the DS was an error. W/o that its impossible to prove the DS was in error. Does that make sense>?

But as @arken mentioned this whole thing should give you a moment to pause and re look at things. I totally get WHY someone would lie on the DS form. But thats not an excuse. It was either knowingly done or was a result of ignorance. Neither scenario is good. If it was knowingly done then it shouldve been disclosed to YOU when you started the visa process. If it was ignorance, well thats a whole other mess youre getting into. Be prepared to deal with a variety of issues in the future. Oh I didnt know I signed up to vote at DMV, I just signed what they gave me. Oh I didnt know the tax guy put 5 dependents giving us a huge refund. Oh I didnt know the bank made an error I just saw money in the account so I spent it.
