Hello, I recently had notifications from this discussion, we haven’t been on in awhile. We were reaffirmed, he had his second interview in January, approved and arrived in the USA in February! We were never requested to give anything further to the USCIS or the Embassy. We did not have to provide anything more to show a bona fide marriage. The  focus of the second interview was mainly my job and my finances and our joint sponsorship. It was very simple for us and we are thankful. However, we’ve learned that each case is a little different in what is being requested after the further review. I can’t really advise on anything because it could be totally different for you or someone else. What I can say is waiting and checking in periodically seems to be best method. Rest assured there will be updates when that information is available. I still highly recommend consulting with an attorney also when a case becomes more complex.
Good luck with your case, we wish you and everyone best!

Usually if you have been on AP, they ask for medical etc when they are about to issue the visa.

Please don’t be giving out placeholder SSN, it’s just wrong to create issues for an innocent party...

maybe it’s karma, maybe just try following the rules like everyone else and you wouldn’t be in this situation, just because it’s forgiven, don’t make it right..

OP, why not try it, and report back as to whether the petition is approved?

Thank you to the person who shared the link - that is certainly helpful to better understand the basis for your position. I can certainly see that interpretation, but I must say that that still does not fully convince me as, if you look more closely at the screenshot I shared, the Zoom option specifies that it is not considered a proxy marriage in the eyes of the law (no one is standing in for one of the parties - both are directly participating in the process), which makes me think that the clause you mentioned does not apply here. Still curious if anyone has actually tried this!

As I mentioned, I am well aware of the pros/cons of the K-1 compared to CR-1. While I appreciate the effort that folks put in to responding to questions on this forum, I do wish people were more respectful of the decision-making capacity of couples to determine what is in their own best interest and to not push one particular process over another when that information is not specifically requested. I also wish that the comparison post I see posted so often on this forum was a little more balanced.

When people do request background on the comparison between the CR-1 and K-1, I would encourage respondents to share a more balanced perspective. For instance, the K-1 also has the following advantages, not mentioned:
    - Ability to start on the immigration process without waiting for the opportunity to get married (e.g. if you cannot or do not want to get married quite yet)
    - Ability to get married in the US, with friends and family present (which many may not be able to do otherwise if denied visitor visa)
    - Typically a shorter waiting time to be reunited
    - Lower initial threshold for financial sponsorship
    - Ability to have time to get to know one partner's home country before committing to marriage (for those who have not had the opportunity otherwise)
    - Ability to start your married life together, in the same place

This is not a interrogation and was not a question for you. This is a forum and for understand the whole picture I and everyone here can ask things. If the person don't want to answer is his right too. You can't tell me or anyone here what we can do. My question was not offensive or said in a derogatory tone. And again, was not directed to you.

Your question is unhelpful and Comes across as interrogation. Even if he overstayed for 1000 years the maximum entry ban is 10 years which is already served.

This is most unusual. Seeing each other every two months in an international marriage is a lot more than many people here can manage. I was fortunate to be able to see my husband every 6 or 8 weeks for 4 or 5 days at a time because I work for an airline and pay next to nothing for tickets and worked flexible hours. I have not seen many people here who were able to visit as often as I was. I find it hard to believe they doubt the relationship of a couple that spends that much time together and goes to such expense and inconvenience to fly that much. People have been approved who see each once a year.

How was your wife able to take 2 to 3 weeks off every 2 or 3 months? That’s a lot of time off. More than most people in the US can take off work.

There must be something more to this.

It occurs to me that if 7 years 8 weeks is “most of your life” (thread title) you are probably too young to be anyone’s spouse.

My spouse had a complicated pregnancy rhat required a longer then usual recovery time. After the passport and CRBA was approved by the embassy for the child  they approved the expidite request.

Riboso reacted to Hilde in Contacting NVC
NVC has your case bc the embassy has not contacted them directly to schedule an interview date. They will keep your DQ´d file until the embassy contacts them to schedule an interview for you. I am not sure how Kenya´s COVID numbers are going, but most embassies are doing only expedited/emergency interviews. Many, many people have been DQ´d since March - awaiting the famous interview letter...
You can always call NVC. I would call either very early when they open, or right before they close - bc there is a shorter wait time during those hours. There is no harm in calling them to ask questions.

Riboso reacted to Unlockable in CR-1 Green card and SSN cancellation
Yes, there are things that are not true your previous statements. Here are a few...

Decision on what? They will not need to make a decision because a decision is already made. There is no sign of abandonment unless he does so himself.

This is not true. A green card holder can surrender their green card. Here is the official steps..https://www.uscis.gov/i-407.
Another person (be it spouse or other relative) does not have the legal authority to cancel a person's green card when it has been approved and issued. What they can do is notify immigration of fraud. And fraud requires substantial evidence to back it up to have the green card revoking procedure to begin.

    This is correct.

And this is where you went wrong. How do you know this? You claimed we are the ones speculating speculating in one of your replies but here you are speculating. How do you know he will not return next week? How do you know he will not be knocking on OP's door with flowers saying he made a mistake because the whole process intimated him and he was homesick? In two years you, nor any of us, will know where he would be.

    Not in this case.

She can call. But they will only tell her the same thing we are saying.

    But lastly,
VisaJourney has a policy where we allow people to post advice and opinions. People know that the advice on here is not legal advice. But that does not mean the members can not give advice. VJ has a strict policy on insinuating or telling others not to post their opinions or advice as long as it is not derogatory or abusive. To say "It is not our place to say" is frankly bordering on limiting the opinions of others. The OP should take the advice on here as they would a stranger on the streets. But if there are no terms of service violations, people can still speak their opinions.

How do you know it was weed?  Maybe it was dirt weed or K2 or oregano.  I would have to have it sampled in a lab first in order to admit I had done something like that.

Other than that now of days it no big deal, I have read now of days you do the evaluation and then get approved.

Back around 2008 and before admitting drug use was a automatic lifetime ban from the USEM.
