Not that I want to scare you - and the cases I'm talking about were not for naturalization- but there have been members whose cases were denied after rescheduling because in the system it appeared as if they did not attend the interview.
 
Of course, those are the ones that post in the forum because they had an issue. Many must reschedule and everything is fine. 
 
My point is that one should do everything to minimize the risks. 
 
For instance: we are still waiting for an interview to be scheduled and we definitely don't want to reschedule, so we book two week vacations, two weeks in advance.

I do enjoy those as well the soap opera statuses 😂. VJ has become a form of entertainment for me lol i rather read through comments then to actually watch tv lol.

I submitted it after close of business on the 12th so really two days but likely this was all processed electronically and no actual person even looked at it.  
 
Like I said almost too fast but better than the alternative.

Your response is at the least callused, you have no idea what this family can or can't do. The OP asked for advise not speculation!

Attended IR1 interview March 22nd 2023.
Handed 221g and passport was returned.
Got DS-5535 today, over 3 weeks later.
Had my answers ready to go and sent it.
 
Now we wait to file WOM.

ROC window opens 90 days before the expiration date on your conditional GC, naturalization window opens 90 days before your 3rd. anniversary as LPR.

Currently Boston is at 12 months average waiting time which we know is just for reference. Some took less, some will take more. 
 
Give them 6 months more and then file a WoM. That will get them moving for sure. 

Writ of mandamus if you're willing to pay 5k+.
 
Or keep waiting.
 
P.S.: We filed for ROC on April 2021 and still waiting.

Setting that aside, there is no reason to stay with someone who is violent. Things are horrible enough as you've described; that's not a healthy environment for you or the kids and it could eventually escalate to something worse.
