Zoltan K got a reaction from shiestand in September 2019 AOS Filers
yesterday we received the green cards for wife and children. I've updated my timeline so everything is there, but in short our April 9th interview was rescheduled, moved to Nov 18.
Verbally on the spot they advise me that we passed, but some of the paperwork was not sent down from USCIS to the local office where we interviewed, hence we had to wait till everything was received. About a week ago the status changed to approved and within a week the cards were produced/mailed and eventually received safely yesterday.
Living so close to the Canadian border, now we can finally think about taking a winter vacation
it was a long journey for all of us, I wish everyone best of luck with their new spouse/family

Same happened to me, I called uscis and I found out they made a mistake with my address. You can call them and ask to speak to a tier 2 officer about it.

I got scheduled my interview in the Portland office. I don't see yet the date, it's normally 1 month out, so likely first week of November. I got the notification in email, the mail will come next week

The article has nothing to do with Trump. USCIS's fight is with congress as it claims it needs funding to continue pre-covid days. You just got to love the Trump bashing from the news organizations.
If you submitted your paperwork then your in line to be processed and you are still legal to be in the US. I wouldn't advise leaving the states till all this gets sorted out.

I might have missed this...why is it better to submit the renewal 6 months early vs. let's say 1 month before expiration ?

Has not happened to me but,
you may not get asked about your current employment at the interview, but take that updated joint sponsor i-864 with you just in case if you do get asked explain to them you are actively seeking new employment and have joint sponsor in the mean time. But you may luck out and not be asked about employment or asked for any forms or letters from work, you just may get by but it maybe risky if your caught.
If they ask you a question like any updates to your forms we need to know about , then you would tell them don't say "no" tell them the entire story.
I wish you all the luck in the world.

thanks for the flyer, I will print this. When I applied for my wife's SSN in person luckily a more senior member was there to assist the officer. The one I talked to was nice, but had no idea how to handle a K1 (fiancee) visa situation.
Bringing this will help to educate them how to do their job and stop arguing with us
See my post just above. They messed up one of the children's card and the AP authorization is not stated on it...I suspect the SSN application will not happen by itself either
Likely I had one of those druids review my file with 1 week of experience

my wife also said everyone going to the interview must sit down for a few seconds before leaving...
I think it is because of this https://www.quora.com/Why-do-culturally-Russian-people-sit-down-for-a-few-moments-before-going-on-a-trip
we did,so whatever helps 😁

this is a good list. my car insurance card also shows all authorized drivers, including my wife, so that might be a good add to the above list

getting a local driver's license has been a challenge for mine too. she has a valid Thai license, which at least she can use to drive. When first she took the DMV test she failed the max 8 questions around question 12. After that she admitted she didn't understand the English for most questions. I purchased her an oregon DMV online test, which had a predicted probability to pass the knowledge test and I told her she cannot go again to test until the probability is at 85%. When she reached it (~1.5 months practicing and learning mostly English words), she passed immediately. Now we are waiting for her work authorization card to arrive (approved just Jan 3rd) and with that we can go back, prove her legal presence and then she will be allowed to take the road test, which will be the final step to get her a local driver's license. ....with her married name on it, so finally we can live normal.
It's been a journey for sure

A significant number of them that don't (especially millennials). Me and my wife don't have one, because we never saw the practical point of having one. It depends on the totality of the circumstances - in other words what other evidence do you have supporting bonafideness of your marriage. I think for the poster, it might not be a bad idea to create one (and regularly use it) for ROC - that's what I am planning on doing as well, for the reason you mentioned that it will help with USCIS. But having jointly filed taxes, jointly owned house, joint mortgage etc are a much bigger deal than joint bank accounts IMO.

1/3/2020 - EAD card is being produced. interestingly the AP card's status didn't update, although it was my understanding that it is a combo card, not two separate cards

yes, 3 packet is required (which you can then put into a big envelope / box and mail together.
this is a few hours of work to put it together and proof read / organize it. If you follow the cover letter and the attachments required, that will help

wow, very lucky! now you just upped my hopes for our wait time expectation
We had 3 weeks ago the ready for interviewing notification, so at this point I stopped micro-managing the events and expect movement mid to late January on AP/EAD, but not much on the green card.
I have two kids as K2s, so need the EAD for getting their social security number and eventually submitting my tax return.

All,
I wanted to share the templates (attached) I created as cover letters in support of submitting your application for I-485/765/131. I've used these and got first pass with no RFE.
The templates walk you through for both adult and child what documents will need to be included with your submission packet.
While I've highlighted in yellow the areas which need to be completed, it's a good idea to read through the entire letter and make sure all sections are still relevant and updated as instruction documents are also getting updated.
Feel free to share with others or on other forums.

Zoltan K got a reaction from apellica in Clinics/Hospitals in Cebu similar to St. Lukes Clinic in Manila
go to the hospital, ask specifically for STD test, chlamydia, gonorrea...etc.
if she is positive, she will need to get cured for sure before getting the K1 visa.
STD test were also limited for my wife in Thailand, but a few asking around and it was clear what tests can be done in which hospital.
the medial is designed to filter our major illnesses before entering into the USA, as long as she is healthy overall you shouldn't worry. if there is any STD, you clearly don't want her to carry that, right ?
and yes, out of pocket expense...think of it as part of the initial investment in your fiancee.

those 3 will be useful. TSA agents should just check that your name matches to the boarding pass, they are not there to check immigration status, but there are some who go the extra mile and self-proclaim to be the "pope" of their airport.
After we got married one young TSA agent started to give us trouble carrying the sand-tube which came from the sand ceremony from our wedding. A more experienced agent had to step in to calm him down and show him how to perform the security check without trying to open and mix up the sand....
this idiot started to tell me how he will need to open it and put a long probe inside and stir it up...etc and that he had never heard of a sand ceremony before.
Wisconsin: I lived there, it's cold by end of November. Dress like at home during December.
