s11 got a reaction from hkiewife in Working remotely while waiting for EAD (K1 Visa)
    Hi guys,

I am going to the US on K1 visa and currently, I am working for a US company in Singapore. My company has offered to give me a transfer to the US once I have EAD and till then I can work remotely/work from home for them.
If I continued to work remotely for the Singapore office from the US and continued to draw my salary for doing so, would I be violating the immigration laws here?

I could not any recent topic on this website with this question hence creating a new topic.

    Any advice appreciated.

Yayyy received approval notice today and got an update from USPS that the package with my husband's green card is arriving Saturday! It's been about 4 weeks from the interview on Feb 4, if you see some of my previous posts the IO said they were going to send an RFE because the medical wasn't in the file, but a week ago the case was updated to say it was approved! Fine by me 👍😁. They must have found it somewhere. Good luck to everyone! See you in 2 years when it's time to remove conditions 😉.

”motivating” isn’t always what is needed, you need good advice to help you successfully petition for your husband.  Sometimes that means understanding that it’s not what you want to hear because it’s a more difficult path. What is the point of people here saying - sure go ahead with your current plan (I guess that’s what you mean by being motivating), when we think it (maybe significantly) reduces your chances of success?

Marriage by proxy and qualifying for immigration benefits is possible, per the previously provided section.
It must be consummated before being eligible to petition.
That said, it usually used in cases of like the military.

There's not really a benefit here, and doing so would just make things more complex than they need to be.
Marry in person and you'll make your process simpler. And it won't take any longer (except maybe the time to receive the marriage certificate? haha).

On what basis did you receive your green card? How long ago was it?

I started to type something here, but then I remembered that my wife reads my posts sometimes.

Only if the proxy marriage is consummated..

Pretty sure it means it must be consummated by you and your wife together, not by third party substitute

Something is wrong here. When someone is going to get a green card or naturalize in the US and he is in a polygamous marriage, US law requires that he divorce all but one wife. So the fact that you are only separated from your husband (who has another wife there) means he has broken US law, probably by not declaring the marriage. Regardless... none of that is actually your problem.  You apply, you can use your name as it is, if they ask about your marital situation you must be honest about what it is. If polygamy is legal in your country, which I assume it is, it is not a problem for you. Whatever you do, do not lie on any application to US immigration or you could face a permanent ban. If your husband has lied to them that is his problem to deal with, not yours.

A "traditional polygamous situation"?  Us law allows only one spouse.......thus, there could be no adjustment of status for a "second spouse"....

My best advice to you is that to be patient and be ready to start from below zero and not to give up.

I worked in a completely different field when I was in my home country (office setting). When I moved to the US, I couldn't find a job in the same field, at least in the same state where my ex and I were living. I was not going to leave her and move to a different state of course.

It was very difficult for me, but I started working in a restaurant peeling potatoes and carrots, between 100 to 150 pounds every day beside cutting other foods for the minimum wage.

It was not enough to pay the bills as my ex wife lost her job. I got another job in news paper delivery. My shift started at 2:00 am and it was outdoor. Working from 2 am till 6-7 am in Winter was very hard. Too cold in New Hampshire.

Few months later I was able to get a job in a warehouse, at least it is indoor, but was very tiring lifting boxes and pushing stuff around. I got promoted there, then a company acquired where I worked and I was offered a better pay and position if I accept their offer. I did.

I started making enough money and my ex got a job, so I went to college and got some courses in the new field.

I was hired as assistant manager and now I am making close to $70k.

I remember working in the warehouse, it was very difficult and too much physical pain and low pain, but I kept telling myself that it will be difficult to start a new life.

I told you on the first post. No, I don’t see how you can bring her here in 4 months. It doesn’t matter what you believe. You can say: “I don’t believe in gravity” all day long and if you jump off a cliff, you still fall down.

Good night! Thanks for the entertainment. That was great. Letter to Barbara Bush, Melania’s fixer, “Oh Donald, I have a problem”, 100’s of thousands of requests per day....

Oh great, this is fantastic. No, I wasn’t aware that Melania needed to pay off a porn star nor she wanted dirt on Joe Biden. So according to you, there is a Melania’s equivalent to Michael Cohen and Rudy Giuliani combined running a fixing scheme right inside the White House and both the First Lady and the President are in on this conspiracy. Have you informed the impeachment committee? Maybe they can impeach the First Lady too.

So, you have this guy’s number ?

s11 reacted to Hickock in we filed for her citizenship 2 months too soon
you're unaware that the first lady has staff that handles the same stuff that the Prez is asked to fix? He gets 100's of thousands of request per day. She get a hundred, but when her staff calls some fed employee, it's STILL "the white house calling". and if you dont want to be working in Alaska and it's your fault, best fix it. One of her clerks tells her, "Mrs trump, so and so is ignoring me", and Melania says, "Donald, I have a problem".  you think that any fed employee wants to risk that? I got action really well with a letter to Barbara Bush and believe me, the Fed did NOT want to do what I was asking. 🙂

    Hello!

I got my EAD-AP combo card a few days ago and I need to travel back home for 10 days due to a family emergency.
My passport is going to expire in 5 months so I can either renew it in the US or renew it back home if I go.
However I am wondering if it could create any issue at re-entry to US if I have a new passport while coming back? OR Can I enter US with Indian passport expiry less than 6 months?

Anyone has any idea or any experience?

Thanks in advance for your help!

s11 reacted to TBoneTX in CBP at TSA Airport Checkpoints: Why They're There & How Best to Handle
People here often post questions about flying domestically when they're at various beginning stages of the immigration process. Answers vary from "carry your complete current documentation with you" to "you will have no problems."

Customs & Border Protection agents sometimes hang out at the TSA airport checkpoints. In August 2015, I flew out of a border-area airport in south Texas and took the opportunity to query the CBP agents at the TSA checkpoint.

T-B.: When you hang out at the TSA checkpoints, are you checking that
    foreign travelers are in status?
    CBP: Exactly.
    T-B.: For example, what if a K-1 entrant's I-94 is expired?
CBP: We have all kinds of ways of checking their status.
T-B.: Would it help if they have their marriage certificate with them?
    CBP: Absolutely.
T-B.: If they've applied for AOS and have their I-797 or at least a copy of their
cover-letter for their I-485, does it help?
CBP: Absolutely anything that they can provide will help a lot, and will speed things up.
T-B.: Why are you at some airports and not others?
CBP: We're at border airports and others that are ports of entry. We're not at all of them.
T-B.: But it still makes sense for legal immigrants to carry their current documentation?
CBP: Absolutely. It helps them and it helps us. It speeds things up a lot.
T-B.: I'll pass this along. Thank you.

This confirms that it makes sense to carry your most recent documentation with you until you have your green card.

I first had Mrs. T-B. carry her marriage certificate (MC) and passport with valid I-94.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and copy of her cover-letter for AOS/EAD/AP.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and her NOA1 (I-797) for AOS.
Then, she carried her MC, passport, and AP.
Then, she carried her first green card (= the law).
Then, she carried that green card and her cover-letter for ROC.
Then, she carried that green card and her NOA1 for ROC.
Then, she carried her 10-year green card until she became a naturalized citizen (= the law).

These documents came in handy at various stages, including at a Texas/Mexico land-crossing POE, a couple of airports, and especially inland CBP checkpoints while driving. At these last, the CBP agents are typically in poor humor and are looking to nail someone. For example, if you're not carrying your green card, they'll detain you for as long as it takes to verify that you're who you say you are.

The above is presented in hopes that it will help others.

You need to think about the consequences of everything. You withdraw your I-864, she leaves, most likely with your child. Once your baby is in China (if it is born there or taken there) you have lost it. Why do you want this??
