Yes, you are correct. Your mother and your father are both principal immigrants but on two different I-864s.

You might already know but you need to take account of your mother on your I-864 for your father and vice versa.

You get  mixed answers because it depends on the consulate/medical facilities: some places require to have interview invitation letter to schedule the exam while other do not.

You can ask but if it is not out of normal processing time posted on USCIS website, they may just give a canned answer / let you know that call them back when it is out of normal processing time.

Yes, she can. She just needs to carry her both passports with her.  In case, she is still in doubt - contact the consulate to verify to ease her mind.

You were confident that you would have all support docs to prove bona fine nature of your marriage - you need that and positive thinking to go over this process.

    Good Luck!

My wife and I just completed our journey last month. We were in long distance relationship like 3 years before we got married. My wife actually did not want to be rush so she rejected my proposals a few times  (thus I visited her many times than many other Vietnamese)

    - I did not add/try to add her to my 401k, other investments, credit card, life-insurance, etc.  However, many did these.

    - Passport stamps and my credit bills showing for my visits and our travel togethers as primary ones

    - Photos as secondary ones attached to primary one. We did not have too many photos - just 1 for each important events.

    - Some wedding photos and some pre-wedding photos.

    - Receipts of wedding gifts from two families and some proofs that we planned our wedding toghether

    - Photos that I visited her relatives in US

    - Call logs/chats. We used 1/2 page for each month.

Just submit tax return with all schedules and all 1099s regarding earnings you received.  Also send most recent 6-months  paychecks (bank statements) you earned for you works.

You can submit what you have.  The majority of people I help them with their petitions are self-employed (only receive 1099-MISC).

Anyway, as long as you have visa, you can book your flight and travel.  My wife and I travelled just after few days she got her visa.

    I understand your point.

Getting petitions passed USCIS quite easy unless petitioner committed some sexual crime. The hard part is the waiting time. I helped many people in my community petition for K-1/CR-1 and other family related types of visa. I also petitioned for my ex and my wife myself. All got their visas approved and just by following USCIS instructions closely.

Generally, USCIS does not need to know about customs & traditions or investigate too much, they only need to verify if a petition meets the requirements for the type of visa it is for.  USCIS does not grant visa. The majority of the time, petitions get rejected at USCIS because people do not follow the instructions.

Consulates, however, have strong knowledges about customs and traditions of a visa’s applicant.

A intentional lie was executed  However, unless the interviewer requested for evidence (which is unlikely), OP will have a very high chance get away with this lie. Of course, to get a visa approved, there are many other things.

No one is perfect, people lie and do bad/stupid things but there are consequences so people need to think twice to commit something. In OP’s case, he is paying for his lie with some anxiety, time spent on reading and posting for this topic. This will last at least until visa gets approved or denied.

It is all about the probability of getting denied and very least, reducing the anxiety when there is a chance that a petition gets denied for something that can be prevented.  People could their petitions approved with wedding photos without registering to legalize their marriage but will yours?  Has your spouse passed the interview with approved visa? Will the consulate have the same view as USCIS?

I cannot comment on the relationship but it is important that you and your wife absolutely sure that there is no chance your marriage won’t work otherwise it will result in some deep regret in the future.

To make life of US government officials harder but increase your chance of getting approved by providing lot of supporting docs at USCIS and NVC stage but...you cannot do that with tourist visa.

All you can do is to fill out your DS-160 with honest answers and submit it. Bring materials you think they will help to support your case to the interview and hopefully, your interviewer will read some of them.

I am quite familiar with tourist visas as many of my extended family members got visa approvals and denials for past 20+ years. My wife also got 2 visa denials (luckily, they were all non-immigrant ones). Here is our recent story: A cousin of my wife’s grandmother (we also call him grandfather) got his interviewed at HCMC: his interview only asked 2 basic questions then denied his visa. Interview took less than 1 min. The interviewer did not look at anything he brought in.

Please double check, I-129F is downloaded offline for editing. Just install Adobe Reader and download the form from USCIS and then locate the file on your Download folder - you will be able to save what you type.
