If you're gay and a Trump supporter you haven't been paying attention, either that or you don't give two craps about your rights or anyone else's in the LGBT community.

Just because something is following the letter of the law, does not mean it is following the spirit of the law, and also what should be acceptable by an electorate. This was likely one of the fastest confirmations of a SCOTUS judge in recent times, which is foolish on its own as it's a lifetime appointment, but also so close to an election that so crassly flies in the face of democracy that it would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Boiler, being from the UK, you may be aware of a period called purdah, which means that the Government is prohibited from making major policy changes immediately before the election, now the US doesn't have such a process, but it is evidently clear that making substantial changes immediately before an election is totally inappropriate.

Yeah, as an LGBT person I'm pretty peeved by the straight people saying 'Yeeeah, nothing to fear here'

OP's case is likely to complete before SCOTUS would rule on this, that's pretty obvious. So OP should be okay.

BUT! In the wider consideration on things, yes there is absolutely reason to be concerned about the conservative SCOTUS majority. If a case comes to SCOTUS and they do overturn marriage equality, we don't know what that would look like if they did. Would it be just that states that don't want to recognize same-sex marriage be free to do that? What about the federal government? Will they no longer recognize same-sex marriage? Would that end immigration benefits for same-sex spouses?

There *are* reasons to be concerned and people who are glossing over this are going to make this situation worse. We need to be prepared to push back against this, especially if it could result in rescission.

I agree with you 100%. Most straight people disregard the feelings of the LGBTQ community and it’s disheartening and quite frankly awful. It is a huge concern (no matter where you get your news from)... something I have been thinking about a lot lately and trying to educate and advocate for those who need it. I pray everyday that this will not be an issue but it is still something that needs to be discussed. Your feelings are warranted. Just know that I, among many others, are here to fight for the rights of the LGBTQ community. You are never alone!!!

sweethrtt reacted to Soflatlndr in My USCIS Case Status down
I am a May 2019 filer at LIN for I-751. This is what I see after the error message earlier in the day.
Last I heard of USCIS was back in April when I checked online and my status was "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview". I never received a notification or letter saying that my case had been transferred, let alone that an interview had been scheduled, and then cancelled..! (btw, I haven't moved or changed my contact info)
This is making me nervous more than anything, but trying to stay patient and positive. @sweethrtt Sorry to hear that, what a rollercoaster. Good luck to all that are still waiting.

My new notice looks exactly like this and it’s my first interview (it’s a reschedule since first was canceled due to covid), so the spartan in design thing must be their new theme for everything lol.  But definitely agree to prepare well just in case since this is your second interview.

Hi! I am so sorry to hear everything you are going through. If it helps a little bit, I’ve read of people going through the same situation for issues with previous visas, but they were just saying it was a general procedure in those particular cases. They got approved with no problems on the second one. I haven’t gone through the interview for AOS yet, but I had similar situations when processing some of my previous visas so I believe they have standard procedures that they are required to meet and that’s all. Try not to worry and stay positive 😊

It’s been just over two weeks since I had my interview and was told they lost my medical exam so couldn’t approve me until they had that.  Did they not tell you why you weren’t approved then and there?  What makes you think it didn’t go so well?

I just want to send you some encouragement. I know how this process can make us feel hopeless sometimes. Especially if there have been delays already in our cases.

Don't lose hope it's the sign of the times and staffing and such. Ours wasn't an AOS but Feb 27th we had our combo  I-751 Removal of conditions and my husbands citizenship interview. It was horrible the woman was mean as a snake. Said she was going to send us a Request for Evidence (you normally get handed at interview what they are requesting) but she said she was tired and would send it later.

We go home in silence in disbelief and started gathering evidence. Then COVID came in March. Then suddenly April 7th we get an update we are approved and 10 year green card is being mailed. And Oath ceremony will be scheduled. Like what?? where is this RFE from this mean women. Nothing.

So just hang in there. No one is going to deny you. Don't stress. Just know it's only a delay not a denial.
