I just wanted to have an idea of my odds telling the truth, otherwise I wouldn't have told about my masters, living situation and traveling history, I even justified why I put him as a "friend" and not "boyfriend" filling out the DS160. I imagined people here could help me or know of similar situations to guide me, because, as I said, I don't want to waste that amount of money for nothing. I've been to many countries and no visa process was like the American one, I'm just worried and people were already being sarcastic and assuming I was trying to improve my odds. It's either I can tell the truth and have a chance to get it or I won't waste my money and time at all.

Good that you were able to get on Visajourney!  Hopefully the prior posts have been a source of strength and information for you as you go through this.

In terms of evidence, the outcome of it/how much it helps will depend on what exactly you have.

Thank you to everyone. I finally was able to get access to the site. I will have some questions for members who are familiar with consulates. I’m still learning how to work site. If its ok can I post what I need help with here? Is this the right area?

I'm happy Sarah was able to get the call done and not fall for anything he had to say.

He was in AP so how can he have an approved visa while in AP.  Nothing gets approved until AP is done so I don't see why that lawyer said what he said. Either way I would not wait too long before calling or emailing the consulate directly. Sadly I don't trust that lawyer there either.

I don't think it's necessarily an "Arab" man problem, I think it's a societal problem, male and female. No matter where you go or the culture and no matter the gender, race or religion, you will find people who cheat. It isn't any more prevalent in the Middle East than it is here, in Europe or anywhere else. It just is.

Sarah is a lucky woman to have a friend like you. I'm glad you've been there to support her through this.

I just love you, TBone. You always have such wise words and I've never once seen you pass judgement on anyone. You're such a great person who contributes so much to the VJ community!

Without the immigration condiment on Sarah's story, I had this exact scenario with an ex who had been cheating for a long time and had a relationship with the other woman.  This happened over 20 years ago but I still remember when he had his mother call me. It's a manipulative tactic.

Give Sarah big hugs. I remember how it all feels and it's just a devastating situation because you are a victim but because you also have to own up to all the things we chose to ignore and continued to push through. Nothing wrong with any of this. We are human, we make mistakes and we want to be loved. Imagine that, huh?

No one got trolled. I’ve already reached out to the moderators day before yesterday. If any of you guys have been following the original post you’ll understand I had a friend  stay with me after finding out her fiancé had other motives. Thats the short of it.  I put her on Visa Journey   so you all can better help her get answers. She stayed with me for five days as some of you who know being it was direct more than a tough time for her. She left home several days ago but she was the last one logged on visa  journey. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to me here I am posting away on my thread and other thread under her profile. Thats all there is to it @TBoneTX is aware as I reached out to directly first to help fix this so him and captain are aware. Thats all - no trolling.

Excellent points!! I wish there was a pinned thread somewhere with warning signs. I've been following this thread for a bit and I hope Sarah knows that, although her situation is painful and heartbreaking, she's also an inspiration. Too many people find out they've been used too late because they weren't able to read or see the warning signs.

OK GUYS. Here is the update. Mind you Ive had only 1 hour sleep throughout the night. She has had NONE for days. But I am invested in making sure Sarah and all the future Sarahs gets their rights as this could be happening now to a VJ member or a future member. Also, information on how the Embassy will handle the cancellation should be posted here as this was an unusual event. There will be more information on the cancellation in the week to come. For now there is a hold or a freeze on the Visa issuance. She said its not updated on the web just should AP. Normal but that will change. The petitioner cancelled the VISA, not the petition, claiming FRAUD only AFTER the CO at the Embassy approved the petition based on a BONAFIDE relationship and thorough interview. Thats where it gets tricky. So she received a response from the Embassy but prior to that she contacted an office in Amman located across the street from the Embassy and got in touch with the attorney there for help to contact the embassy and what can be done. They are an Immigration and Translation office that originally helped her and her fiance with the necessary documents after NVC received the case. Basically they are set up to help people with visitor visas, K1 and I130, etc petitions, translate documents, etc. So she got a hold of the attorney there, told him the entire story. He has seen a few cases like this before however this was different as she is cancelling after the approval due to fraud. Some cancel after the visa approval due to a breakup but this is fraud. So he explained to me and her it would trigger an investigation since the Consulate Officers job is to approve petitions based on documents (no issues there), proof of bonafide relationship (submitted everything there and it was enough I guess) and be able to conduct the interview, etc. However the CO could not have known he had these plans. He isnt the first or the last. He was able to collect more information by contacting the Embassy himself and once he did they contacted her. She emailed a hand written and signed statement, copy of her passport and few other things they needed. They will contact her soon and Visa is on hold under they contact her for futher information. That attorney said most definitely it will be cancelled and she need not worry and he will ultimately receive a ban but is unsure what ruling they will make on that. He's 10 years at the most so far. She is relieved in some way though.
This evening she will be speaking to her now ex-fiance. Of course Ill be here for that.

Lets talk Red Flags...I had her think carefully on any red flags she may have ignored or picked up. Here are some from the tiny to the obvious.

    1.  Seeing him "online" on whats app after midnight Jordan time for extended periods of times. She would be texting him and waiting for him to reply and would get no response. If it were his buddy like he said, as most guys can agree, they usually dont text their buddies for over 30 minutes after midnight on a work night several nights a week. Then eventually reply and say you werent on or didnt see the replies or my net is weak.

    2. Wanting to get engaged or married in a very short time. Less than 6 weeks of chatting and video for him to know he wants to spend the rest of his life with you im sorry but that is a red flag.

    3. While in his presence he gets texts and wants to respond away from you even if its in a language you cant read. taking calls away from you. not posting pics of you and him on his social network pages or making a new facebook for the both of you is a red flag as it deters you from wondering why he wont add you to his own facebook.

    4. While in his presence where he should be so excited happy every second of the time he is with you he mentally drifts off and gets into fixed stares and looks sad several times throughout the day. When asked, oh nothing just thinking about my job but then wants a bit of space from you physically. Yeah ok...sure...your job.

    5. His middle eastern parents are WAY TOO HAPPY for the both of you and dont even ask about your family or your upbringing or care to be too invested in your past or your life. Just pump up their son to be the best.

Im sure there are more but these are the ones she can recall.

Im  off to work myself and when I get back she will make the call to the loser who will be asleep by then but Im sure will jump up to answer her call as he's been very concerned about her and has been waiting to hear from her. I....cant....effen....wait.

YES coming up here in a few!! I want every woman who who has an instinct or has been collecting red flags to read and re-read. I want all the future Sarah's to be educated and all of us to know the process. This isnt going to be easy process and people like myself and others who have legitimate relationships and will be having future interviews at the Jordan Embassy will certainly be affected by this.

She's not a tourist who's considering to cut her overseas trip short.  She's about to move back to her home country.  There's more to a move than packing her suitcase and buying a ticket.  Preparing a move takes time and effort to prepare, and a usually also quite a bit of money.  She needs to make sure that she's got a place to stay back in her home country; she might have stuff that needs to be shipped; and she'll definitely want to find a lawyer here who will represent her interests in the upcoming divorce.  All of that needs to be arranged before she leaves because she won't be allowed to return in the foreseeable future.  I can understand that she'd like some help with that, especially as she seems to be short on cash.  That's my take on "prepare my back trip in good conditions".

Take your time and finish your paperwork. I have seen others who have waited a year to file AOS and nothing happened to them. So a few days or weeks is not a concern. The K-1 is DEAD. There is nothing more you have to do with the K-1. You can use 2017 to file the I-864. The rule is if you have filed your taxes then use 2018 if you have not use the most current tax filing and that would be 2017 in your case.

Ok. Take a big deep breath and let it out slow. Feel better?

Ahhh that exhale felt good. I do feel better now. I will unfortunately have to wait for the 2018 ones since I already filed those taxes but that's fine now that I know the expiration date doesn't matter. I mean after all...we signed paperwork on the I-129f saying we promised to "get married within 90 days"...they never said anything about "filing within 90 days"  of course though...the sooner we file, the sooner the results! Thank you, @Greenbaum

Once they receive your package from the NVC, it can take about a week before they email the beneficiary the P3. We reached out to them and provided them the DS160, the bank receipt and the ATLAS profile page. We went from NVC to P4 package because we got ahead of the game. You can see the P3 information that is required listed in this forum.

Yes. You will need the names to match on the SSN and the EAD to do anything...get a job, get a driver's licence etc. They need to match. But to change her SSN name you will need an EAD in the married name.
If she filed all of her AOS paperwork in her married name like she was supposed to, the EAD, AP and GC will come in her married name.
After that you will have plenty of time to update her passport if you chose to do so.

Hi @Ninaav and @dwilder. My fiancée passed her interview pending her medical exam. She completed the 2nd medical exam with the doctor this morning and that went well. We went over to the interview later in the afternoon. It started off rough. There were a lot K1 interviews and only 1 person taking paperwork. When we finally was called we were asked to get new set of passport photos. My fiancée face was a little turned to the side. Since neither of us had any cash on hand, she had to leave while I watched our son and took a new number putting us as the last ones for K1 interviews. She went down the road to an ATM to get cash and was then able to come back and use the photo booth in the Embassy to take a new set of pictures. Turning in the paperwork and the interview went much smoother! He asked how and when we met, when was our son born, if she traveled to the US and if she ever overstayed her stay past 6 months. He actually asked me questions as well. Where I lived and if I still live there? He looked at our pics and that was it. I offered our other proof of evidence of meeting but he just looked at the photos. Probably took about 15 mins for the interview itself. The doctor said she will send our medical to the embassy on Friday. We informed the guy performing the interview and he said they should have it by Monday or Tuesday. I'm guessing the visa will be ready about 8 days after they receive the medical.
