Depends on the drivers license. As of January 22,2018 you are required to have a Real ID to be compliant with the new guidelines. Michigan is on the list, so they should be OK as long as they have a newer Real ID compatible ID. They just started issuing the new ones in Michigan, so check your ID for the Real ID Symbol. Link Below.

You guys should have no issues with flying within the continental US. I'm more concerned this might be a scam call though as BKL said above. So be careful

    Hello,

Make sure the call is legit. There is a scam going on targeting Chinese immigrant. Google it.

As long as the passport is still valid, no issues traveling with it. I actually prefer to travel with my passport myself. I have lots of friends that come visit me all the time ( Of course I have friends, I live in Las Vegas, NV. LOL, and they like the free room) and many are international and fly around the US for work or to visit other people they know, and I have never had them say they had an issue with their foreign passport and going thru airport security.

Update: She brought the requested documents Wednesday morning and they took her passport and said it would be processed and sent by post in 4-5 business days. Thanks for everyone’s help!

I've been able to have a couple of friends who are off during the summer (teachers) who take my wife out to explore and shop. Friends are a godsend often lol. Otherwise she plays games on her phone with her parents over in China and watches shows on her black box.

I believe they're making her get a new one, but she said she already talked with the hospital and it was okay to get a new one. She had gotten it almost a month ago and I guess she was told by the embassy that it was sealed wrong.

Im glad to see this because they just told my wife that she probably needs to wait until her green card arrives (still a long time away yet as we just married last week) and my friend who married a Thai wife had her name changed  no problem after a K1. We think some of the workers have no idea what to do when dealing with foreigners. So we will try another office later. She arrived a few weeks ago, got her ssn a week after, then a week and a half later we got married, so its figured that it's just too soon after she just got her card and that's what is bumping her in the system.

This is a subject that is brought up a lot here and the general consensus is that they don't know what is going on so the default answer is NO. So we always say here to either try a different person or a different office.

    That kinda explains the denial.
The CO considered a young Chinese passport holder an overstay risk with weak ties to home. Applying in a 3rd country (ROK), just starting school, and a part-time job didn't convince the CO.

the evidence i was talking about is the stuff you could have started gathering for AOS interview. No SS#...a lot of the evidence is not possible to get. I.e.:
Joint bank account (me and my wife)
beneficiary on 401k, same account on credit cards, joint name on the lease (my apartment requires SS# for Background check), work life insurance (wife is beneficiary)
She is on the power bill, they also asked for her SS#
medical insurance (required SS# at my job)
    that's the ones i remember

w/o SS# you may not be able to do most paperwork for this kinda evidence, good luck

My fiance from China is flying into Detroit in a couple of hours. I hope there aren't many still left hanging by now. If so, I'm hoping for your finalization soon. Just wanted to say thanks to this thread as well as VJ members in general for info, advice, and encouragement. Long way to go, but at least she will be here to go through with it with me.

As others have said, he will have to get a tourist visa on his own merit. Pakistan is not an easy country to get a tourist visa or a marriage visa from - there are people on here who have made 7+ trips and spent years trying and are still unsuccessful.  @Love To Teach

Furthermore, if he is able to get a tourist visa and comes to visit you, and it goes well - at some point in time, if you decide to divorce your husband and pursue this relationship, they will see that this relationship started while you were still married - not even legally separated, and it could cause more problems for you.

If you do not want to be married, then divorce your husband first and pursue other opportunities after.

Took them 3 weeks as they changed over our application to electronic methods. That was in April to May.

I was glad to be one of the pivot cases for the K1. Certainly sped things up a bit. It's nice that they are moving things electronically. Hopefully they dont have hacking issues though.

Following this thread as I noticed this since it will have significance and ideas when my fiance gets here to Michigan. Hopefully mine will be fine with going on bike rides often as I live near a major highway with a bike trail going all the way up it. But this will give me some insight on what to expect her to go through. Hard to dig through pages without it occasionally coming up.
    Thanks for posting it

Yes, she brings that with her to the interview. Just last week I joined my fiancee in South Korea where I gave her all my paperwork. The embassy sorted thru it and kept specific things such as the I-134.

And yes, these things Greenbaum stated. They took these items as well.
