Just wait another 2-3 months. I'm understand how you feel ,but nothing you can do right now is wait and hope no RFE.

Even she has no income, she still required submit i-864. Besides that, she also send a letter explain why she not working and some kind of proof like class schedule.

-For 20/22 child they will aged out,so may be 7-8 years.
-For the study: high school is free in US. You have to pay for him when he go to college, but he can get federal grant(fafsa) to pay for it if income is low.

It will be better if you should apply for a replacing GC.

Pre-marriage proofs IMO is the best evidence,and Italy not a high fraud, so you don't need to worry. you can check my timeline, it a high fraud place. I'm even flight back and go to the interview with my spouse. I sit back on the chair behind my spouse. the CO see me back there, and he only asked my spouse 1 question: Do you have any other picture beside these ones( picture we submit at USCIS and NVC). My spouse pull out the one which we took 10 years ago together. Visa approved.
