Hey All,

I go through the Oath ceremony this coming Tuesday. However, i just realized i have work / travel overseas (Canada) that i have to make within the next 2 work weeks. I believe i give up my green card at the Oath - and i will be without a US passport at this point in time. I will still have my UK passport that is still valid - but i probably should avoid traveling on that? Or should i use this and the certificate that i get to get to/from? What is the recommended situation here?

Thanks for your advice.

my sister returned to the US years ago after she had gotten her US citizenship. she didnt have a US passport still either. it's really a pain in the rear to do it like that, but while you are in Canada, you may be able to ask for a permit or such to reenter the US. I remember she went to the embassy and they gave her something so that she could enter the US again. It had her picture on it also

You can apply for passport at Passport Agency, and it only took 1-2 day. Here the link:

This is incorrect. There is no way anyone will ever get a US passport that quickly even with expedite.

Read the link. If you in need to travel in a next 2-3 weeks, you can apply at a passport agency or center near where you live.

Correct, you just need to provide proof of your travels, like airline tickets.

Yes you can! My husband got his passport in one day las December for our trip to our home country for Christmas. You just call and make an appointment. Must bring proof of travel like an itinerary and that is it.

Great info! My oath is the 26th and I plan to apply at 'passport day' on the 28th. I am traveling June 10th so I am hoping I get it by then without having to expedite.
