I moved here on a K1 visa and my husband is active duty. I was covered on Tricare straight away after we got married.

Every embassy is different.  Some require a wet signature on the affidavit of support and some do not.  Most likely everything else is fine as copies (accept your original ID's, passport, etc. which they will want to see).

You said he e-mailed you everything.  I would suggest going to a print shop and printing everything out today for the interview.  Worst case, they request you send them the original signed affidavit and hold the visa until they receive it.

    Good luck.

Wow, my fiance in Turkey right now is afraid just to sneeze on account that her visa may be denied. And here, your partner is getting drunk and getting into fights and then not telling you about it until a month later. I know you're here looking more for visa rather than relationship advice, but I'll say this anyway. People who drink to such a level that they get into fights when they're drunk and turn into liars....it is likely this man will never stop drinking and he will lie more and more to conceal that fact from you. Lying may even be one thing, but he kept from you a fact that very well could impact if/when you two get to be together.

To be fair, I think people should be free to make mistakes in their lives and it shouldn't mean they can't come to the U.S. altogether on account of that. But are you certain this is his only arrest and could he have be convicted of anything else? If you decide to continue this relationship and go through with the visa, you really better make sure there's nothing else he's concealing from you.

@Islandgirl93 I’m currently Active Duty and as @Londonergirl stated JAG is no help. They can barely assist with regular state law, and will be little to no help with immigration law. The military doesn’t provide any assistance to the member in regards to immigration issues. You can contact the base ARMY Community Service (ACS) office for spousal support (not in regard to financial, but information and guidance). They offer different information assistance.  Some ACS offices have foreign spouses that work there and may be of tremendous help.

I did all the paperwork myself. Why do you feel the need in having someone do it for you?
JAG won't help you with it but some bases have an immigration adviser. I saw one on the base where we are at but she gave me so much wrong information that I said no thank you and good bye  Then I did all the paperwork myself and had no issues.

A B1/B2 visa holder can be anywhere in the US.  There's no restriction.

Why were you deported?  Overstay?  Illegal work?  Illegal activities?  What?

So I just wanted to give you an update. My interview went very well and was super quick. The officer was really nice and understood why my husband couldn't be there. I was approved on the spot and have already received my approval letter.

My husband was deployed when I was called to come for my GC interview. It was for my 2-year GC though but I guess it would be the same for ROC ( am not 100% sure though). But I was told to just bring my husband deployment orders and there were no issues at all.

See that is what you keep referring to. This has nothing to do with your credibility! This has nothing to do with you let up off of it already this is tiresome and you have way to much time on your hands. I have already received messages from fellow VJ members sharing their experiences. Hopefully more will share as well. I am not asking for specific details I have already completed all of that research on my own! I simply want what I ask for and will no longer repeat myself to you because I simply do not have the time for it. Once again thank you for you "insight"! Have a great rest of your day/life 🙂

All of this is my prerogative...thank you....so if asking for 1st hand experience offends you because you have copied and pasted from the website then that is yours. You can have plenty of years on the internet but me wanting to hear a story of someone who has actually went through the steps instead of googling does no harm at all. If you want to point me to one of these post of first hand Enlistments then that would be helpful if not badgering me is not getting anywhere.

    Have a great day 😀

Londonergirl reacted to Hypnos in Active duty or reserve to naturalize and obtain Security Clearance?
Wrong, wrong, wrong. (FYI the US has been considered in a "wartime" status since 9/11).

Enlisting, which someone can do with a green card, can lead to expedited naturalisation without needing to satisfy the three or five year residency requirements.

    https://www.uscis.gov/military/naturalization-through-military-service

I believe that enlisting in the reserve, rather than active-duty, shortens the wait period to one year. Active-duty enlisted aliens I believe can apply for expedited naturalisation as soon as they complete basic training.

Well technically according to the I864 Affidavit of support she should be supporting you, no?  She is responsible for you until you become a citizen (or leave or die or work 40 quarters)

We dont know if she came in with intent to marry.  I don't live inside their heads only they know if they did or didn't.  We don't even know if she is going to remain in the USA during the process.  If she is going to wait it out in Mexico then AOS is a moot point.
