usmsbow got a reaction from TBoneTX in Ship lots stuff to USA from Indonesia
My wife suggests going on Facebook and looking for an Indonesian group where people offer to carry stuff for you to the USA. She's also willing to do it as long as it is legal and won't be an issue at Customs (she'll be visiting family from late June to mid-July).  You can PM me if interested.

Of course if you plan to bring A LOT of stuff, then that probably isn't a good option for you :). And if you're planning on bringing foods/ingredients, then you probably can find it here and don't need to ship it from there (this is also per my wife).

It's not a matter of the Consulate or Embassy, but a requirement by USCIS in accordance with the CDC.

When you were turned around. Those notes are in the system and will be for a very long time. It is recorded that you withdrew your request to enter. That is a sign that they did not believe you were just a tourist.

usmsbow got a reaction from OldUser in Meaning of Validity Dates on I-797 NOA2
Our application/petition arrived at the Jakarta embassy months after NOA2 (USCIS lost it for about 4 months before finally getting it to NVC). The original validity date had passed, but it was never a problem or issue.

Since they went ahead and scheduled your interview date, I can't imagine you'll have any problems. Can't hurt to get confirmation from the embassy though; they're pretty responsive (or used to be at least).

Keep in mind that an approved I-129f expires after 4 months.  The Consulate can (and usually does) extend the expiration date in 4 month increments up to a year.  It is totally at their discretion.  I would contact the consulate and request the extension just to make sure.

This would have been a useful detail to include in your original post.  You definitely made it sound like you were in the US and he was coming from SA to work and be paid, and had done that before.

So now it looks more like it is related to lack of ties to SA and having an American partner.  Consular officers are required to look at all B visa applications under the lens of immigrant intent.  Having a US partner and being from an African country makes a B visa approval very unlikely, even without the miscommunication.

If he can strengthen the ties to home, he can apply again.  Honestly to apply immediately after a denial is a waste of money, but of course they'll take your money.

Also, what surprised me the most was "how the hell was she able to board her flight into Rome from the U.S.?".

Clearly the airline that issued her the boarding pass without checking her eligibility (Schengen visa) was bearing the responsibility and it was a clear case of it being legitimately fined for this situation.

Is this a question or a statement?
Yes, typically a passport dictates whether visa is required.

However, a good example is travelling to Canada with passport and Green Card.

Even if passport requires appying for visa or eTA to enter Canada, green card waives that requirenent. US LPRs can enter Canada visa free. There's some other countries which simplify entry for US LPRs. Of course, passport is still required.

Of course, the primary purpose of GC is living in the US and travelling to the US.

Criteria to approve a fiancé visa are completely different from a B2. This is not a fair comparison at all.

An easier solution would be to eliminate the option to adjust status from NIV.  Want to come to the US, meet someone and marry?  Great, but you have to go home afterwards and be petitioned for an immigrant visa.

How do they do it in Britain, @Boiler?  Aren't there special visas required for foreigners to marry there?

Are you in financial shape to import an immigrant spouse? I am asking simply because in my opinion it will take a significant financial outlay including your traveling maybe multiple times.

I would add that you should freeze your credit with all 3 bureaus (it's free - you can do it online). Someone who is willing to do the things she has done, is likely also willing to try and fraudulently apply for credit in your name.

Would there not also have to have been a joint interview for the I-485 more often than not? Not sure how often those have been waived during the period that this would have (presumably) been approved.

@Nazim and Debbie based on some of your responses here, it would probably be good to seek out some free or low-cost consultations with attorneys in your area. No offense but you do not seem prepared to handle this by yourself and with divorce on the horizon you will need a lawyer regardless.

Do you not remember filling out more paperwork after you two were married?

If she does have the GC not much you can do.
File a report for the abuse of your child and get a good attorney to start the divorce process. One that will stick her with at least half of the debt she created too.

Tourist agencies in Indonesia are useless for that kind of thing, yet so many Indonesians use them. Boggles my mind. Basically those agencies either give general advice that is helpful for other visas like Schengen and Japan (such as letter of recommendation),  or shady advice like the OP's partner received.

Anyway, she should just be honest. Putting you down may or may not hurt you, none of us know. Her age, occupation, etc are more relevant anyway. She should just be truthful, that way she will avoid any problems down the road.

And tourist visa applications have no bearing on K-1 applications. Good luck to you both!

I would run...not walk..away from that agency.  They are advocating lying to US immigration.  That will end in tragedy.

This plan is a huge red flag for immigration. You have to list all your addresses from the past 5 years. How are you going to explain we don’t live together. You can’t lie about because they can look up the information.
