This is Very, very dangerous advice, imo............ Once an I-94 expires, the person is out of status and technically subject to deportation.....once the person files the I-485, he/she gains authorized stay while the I-485 is pending........AOS should be filed prior to expiration of the I-94.

There’s probably more to that story. Regardless there’s nothing that started anyone has to file within 90 days. Some people don’t even get married till day 89-90. No matter when you file.. you should always keep a copy of your documents on you. Even as a citizen if I leave my license at home and get pulled over the police officer isn’t going to let me go home to prove I have one. So no one especially anyone in any “status” would be allowed to do so. In this event I’d advise full compliance with any officer and don’t argue regardless of your status. Don’t resist attempting to prove your status until said time as such is appropriate. Also saying she’s unable to work due to sending her EAD off?? Why would she send the actual EAD? I’m sure you send copies of said documents. Not to mention why wouldn’t she have worked prior to “sending it off” there’s a few things not adding up and I’m sure plenty missing from this story. So it’s not dangerous advice telling someone they don’t have to worry and freak out if they haven’t or aren’t filing within the 90 days. Most people don’t. Some can’t. That’s the way it is. Everyone is recommended to file within the first year to avoid needing to do another medical (k1 visas). Until USCIS publishes a policy letter with a timeline or addressing the “gray” area. You’re not wrong or right by waiting or not.

  2. Great. Most of your answers felt more like angry 😤 responses as if you were told no before or offended I’m interested in trying to provide my sibling a better life. Thanks for the domestic adoption poster info. I’ll keep researching and provide better information if and when we decide to pursue adoption. I understand the “30” year wait and am by no means trying to bypass anything. I’ve seen a girl as old as 15 adopted and brought here when only one parent was alive. So was asking more for experienced individuals to point me in the right direction not opinionated individuals to shoot down the idea of adopting a sibling. Anyway thanks.

Is your parents dead? If not, then you can't. You cannot legally adopt someone when the parents are still alive

One parent is deceased. I’ve seen it done before where a child was adopted when only one parent was deceased... but from an unrelated couple. I’d assume it would be easier for a sibling to adopt than anyone else

  4. Can anyone provide information or direction to information regarding adopting a younger sibling (age 10) in the Philippines. I’m currently in USA. I entered under k1 and have started the AOS process. Thank you all for any information.

  5. Sending ours today.

My Bird and I just sent it by mail today - USPS. Since we live in the Chicago Suburbs - they said it should be there by tomorrow.
    Kind of fretting though.
Filled out I-485, I-864 (*This one is my worry*), I-765 and I-131. Its odd though because we didnt really put anything for the medical since it was done with the K1 and I-129F before the embassy interview so we only included the card that showed we got vaccines.
So i guess the wait begins.

Same here. Just included the immunization record from the k1 medical.

Does he need a tourist visa? He’s only staying a week. I think the tourist visa is if you intend on staying longer than 6 months?

I assumed since hes visiting he already had a tourist visa. Sorry I replied without seeing what country hes coming from. I don't see why he would be denied entry if he is approved for his ESTA. And also can show he is staying less than 90 days.

My attorney called me back and said he would charge me $50 just to write an affidavit saying he’s only visiting for a week and he said even that won’t guarantee anything. What the heck! He is making it sound like he will be turned away at customs

I'm getting mad just reading this about your attorney. Anything to get money. For one you can write your own affidavit and have it notarized for nothing. But that isn't necessary. 100s of people visit their fiancés on tourist visas while k1 is pending. With tourist visas I'm pretty sure you have a return ticket. You'll be fine as long as you have any proof you're leaving the country and not violating the visa (i.e. getting married). The lawyer is simply confusing the process  of applying for tourist visa after you've already applied for K1 visa. Doing that is very difficult and regularly gets denied. However already having a tourist visa is a different story. As long as you don't violate the visa and over stay or get married then you will be fine.

Congratulations!!  We got the text today but when we went to pick it up they told us it wasn’t there yet :(  so we have to go back Monday

  9. Ok finally some updates on the ustraveldocs email says : "The current status of your passport is In Transit From Post.", the ustraveldocs website saysPassport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery and the cgifederal dashboard says "Passport has been received from the consular section, and is currently being processed for delivery"

  10. So I'm not sure now. Aftership is the only thing I can track on right now. When I use my UID number it gives me In transit with 28 FEB, 11:15 Am. When I use my Case Number it gives me Feb 28, 12:15 pm, and then when I use my Passport number it gives me Feb 28, 07:11 Pm... As for checking the traditional methods.. no status at all.

Seems to work better.   2go website reports nothing while aftership does

Just concerned how accurate it is... because it says mine was picked up at 11:15 today but I thought they only pickup from Embassy at 5 pm. And also none of the other sources show a status that would concur with what aftership is saying. And id also have to mention someone else on facebook tried to track hers using her UID on aftership.. but her status hasn't even changed to Issued yet.. I know sometimes that happens but.. you know I just don't want to get my hopes up that its in transit already and really it isn't lol.
