I agree with this, as a K1 visa holder you are eligible to get a SSN, but the window is very limited. This is what we did. Get the SSN although it will be in the maiden name it will not be any problem to change to the married name later if you wish. Be sure to get your I-94 before applying for the SSN. That can be gotten from the I-94 website online be sure to print out several copies as you will need them later. SSN is most important and its a very easy process the sooner you apply. Some states do require a SSN to apply for the marriage license so you'll have to check your state requirements. The key is start building for your AOS NOW and with a SSN it makes it all the better.

I concur with @Crazy Cat and I also say this from experience. When you apply for your N400 it is done online it's all laid out neatly and they tell you exactly what to submit. Another reason to do it now is the changing political climate, best to get it done and over with as you do not know what the future may bring.

I see now Saman1103 submitted a N-400, that's strange usually it pushes your ROC right on through.

I guess neither one of you guys submitted your N-400? That might have made a difference. Hang in there though it will come soon! Correction I see one of you submitted your N-400.

Also, consider preparing a cover letter for each form in addition to the main cover letter. Make sure you send long-form birth certificates and not the short form. You never know what changes your life will have down the road, so I recommend you file these two forms from the start. There is no extra charge to file them with your AOS and it's better to submit them all at once. There has been much confusion coming out of USCIS, partly due to Covid-19 and partly self-inflicted. This confusion filters on down to the people filing for AOS. There is a statement stating that the GC, AP, and or EAD are no longer in your possession. I believe that statement is on your oath paperwork I remember seeing it somewhere, but there is a checklist you have to check off on and sign. You have to turn in that statement prior to taking the oath so it's best to turn it in and foolish to keep any of them if you have them in your possession expired or not!
