Filing adjustment of status from inside US, question about past divorce decrees?

Hi all, I've been using Boundless (Love them) and filling out all my forms and submitting documents prepping for the adjustment of status filing, and have a question.

 

I was married twice, and my most recent X-wife, I have that decree, my first wife (Divorced sometime between 2000 and 2004, fuzzy memory) I contacted the county we were divorced in and they have no record that they can find. How big a challenge might this be?

Big big problem. You must submit the correct divorce documentation for both previous marriages 

 

Moved to “Aos from student work or tourist visa” to reflect OP situation. Can you please confirm what visa your spouse used to enter the US so we understand your background better .. makes for most accurate answers. Thx

This was the Emergency Tourist Visa case.

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

You need to go back to the county and have them search harder as this will be needed for your most current application.  Did they try searching under your first ex's name?  You may also look into a service that helps search vital records.

Gigantic issue.  That will result in an RFE and/or denial if not remedied.

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..
