By acceptance I'm assuming you mean NOA1, and if that's the case that's really interesting, so when they contact us with a case number for NVC I'm assuming it will be via email or mail or? Thanks

NVC sends out a letter with your case number on it, but many people never receive it. Doesn't matter, it's not needed for anything.

Everything past NVC is country/embassy specific, so you would have to ask someone who knows your particular embassy about the rest.

So how will we know when it's at the NVC or embassy, what will the next notification be, and will it be via email or mail or?

Sorry I'm just not sure exactly the steps after NOA2, thanks!

You need to do some research, not just about the whole K-1 process but also the AOS process so you know what to do after arriving in the US. The forum has millions of thread and great guides and floor charts.

I'm out.

I'm sorry but I think some of your answers were very helpful but some weren't very transparent, thanks for your help & time nevertheless.

They will not contact you with a case number. You have to call NVC yourself to find out. Takes 4-5 weeks for NVC to receive your case after getting NOA2.

You won't know it's at NVC unless you inquire

NVC will contact the petitioner once they ship abroad.

YMMV

Hi guys!

We are applying from New Zealand, you might remember us from the forums on here over previous months.

So we got our NOA2 today but we are just wondering what documents we would have to upload for the NVC such as civil documents etc when it gets there, I'm trying to find specific results FOR NEW ZEALAND but can't seem to find transparent answers on the state department website.

Can anyone from New Zealand give us some insight on what documents are needed for upload?

Thank you!

Josh & Sarah

You can check the reviews for your consulate, and in the regional forums for people that have already gone through there for even more information researching while you wait.

Under normal circumstances approved i-129f cases only stay at NVC for a few days before being shipped off to the different embassies.

There was no good reason for it taking that long, but K-1s were typically spending 5-7 weeks at NVC for the last year or so prior to the pandemic.

However, we are going through a pandemic (I'm still surprised by how many people have already forgotten about that) and K-1 visas haven't been processed at most embassies for almost a whole year or even more. People have still been able to file their petitions and have those processed, so now embassies will have to start working on the massive backlog of all the visa applications that were put on hold for so long.

That means we don't know how massive that backlog is. You don't know how many cases are in front of you in line at this point. You can always contact the embassy and see if you can get an answer.

New Zealand has been fully open for nearly a whole year and has been processing k1 visa the entire time so I don't believe the wait will be too long in this scenario.
