Hell Visa Journey friends,

I have a friend who is a permanent resident here in the the USA, but she is wondering if she can invite her friend to the USA for a visit?

If someone has experienced this situation, please help how to go about it.

Thank you in advance.

Of course she can.

Just needs to call, text or email you.

However you contact each other.

Do you have a visa to visit?

Your friend can invite anyone to visit the US, and then that person will need to apply for a visa or ESTA depending on their circumstances.

Anyone has the power to invite someone else to their residence or country of residence. But it's up to the visitor to obtain the proper visa to get into the country. Being "invited" into the US by a US citizen or permanent resident has no legal bearing or power on the visa process, if that's what you're trying to ask. Your permanent-resident friend cannot "sponsor" their other friend to come into the country. The visiting friend will be interviewed by their country's embassy/consulate, who will decide on whether to give the visa or not.

Thank you everyone for your time to respond to me question.

@Mushroomspore, I was thinking close to what you stated. Your explanation has made it very clear to me. Thank you.

Yes, LPR can extend an invitation directly to their friend that when they come to the US, he/she will be willing to host them. However, you can't extend that invitation through the Embassy because to the USEM an invitation means nothing and has no bearing on the tourist visa process. The friend will have to find a way to secure the tourist visa for themselves.
