We sent my husbands AOS packet last Thursday (the 11th) and it left the Salt Lake Distribution center and on the 15th it updated as “in transit”

no details on the location whatsoever.
It was supposed to to arrive yesterday.

Has this happened to anyone else lately?

I'm assuming you sent the package by priority mail which normally takes up to 3 business days for delivery but it is not guaranteed.  Since you sent it out on Feb 11, it will not be transferred from your local post office until around 7pm so you can't count that as a business day.  So the first business day is Friday.  Monday was a national holiday so that does not count as a business day.   So your package should arrive today, not yesterday.   However, not only is USPS short staffed because of the pandemic, there is also some really bad weather which is causing additional delays.   Delays are to be expected.  Please be a little more patient.

I sent a priority mail package to be delivered 20 miles from my home.  It was supposed to take 1 business day due to the close location.  It was delivered on the 3rd business day.

We sent our ROC packet last month and paid extra for 2 day delivery. Well, it arrived 9 days later. And that was without a big winter storm.

Was the tracking pretty consistent? This is what ours looks like now

Yes, ours said the same thing. That message appeared for 5 or 6 days.

Thank you. I guess it can be attributed to the pandemic and all the other circumstances. we definitely will be going with fed ex or a private courier next time around.

USPS has been a nightmare for almost a year- it’s been all over the news and they even have an alert on the top of their home page. I ordered something online in May and and it arrived in September. I could have walked there and back in quicker time lol I don’t think your packet will take nearly as long but yes avoid USPS as much as you can. Good luck.

Thank you. I feel so stupid that we used usps in the first place. We really should have spent the extra money and gone with fedex 😩 shoulda coulda woulda though.

worst  case scenario we will reprint all the forms and assemble a new packet and send via fedex or ups. I kept a copy of all the things we sent in on a hard drive on my compute

Don’t beat yourself up- it’s done and over with- you know for next time to do a bit more research. That is a positive that you saved a copy of everything you sent - some people don’t do that at all and then fret when they receive a RFE and can’t remember what they sent. Try not to drive yourself crazy and only check the tracking number every other day- or if you must only once daily. Like others said Monday was a holiday and the storms across the country have further disrupted operations regardless of how you sent it. Good luck and try not to fret.

I have sent it on February 1st and haven't reached yet, did inquiry about 4 times and nothing yet keep saying in transit. Going to send the new package  coming this monday. i wish i could have done next day delivery

If it doesn’t show next week we will probably start putting together a duplicate packet with an explanation on the cover letter and use fedex. So freaking frustrating.

I have a friend who works for USPS and he told me sometimes the tracking doesn't get updated as much as we expect it to, especially in this day of age of covid, and nature's storm blasts.

Thank you! Yes I have heard of this happening and certainly hope that’s the case. I went to the post office today (for something else) and when I asked them about it apparently the last place my item was scanned was in the departing office and that’s it. The clerk stated that I likely won’t be hearing anything until either tomorrow or next week. I asked her if it was potentially just in a truck between destinations right now and I guess they fly those packages out via plane and a lot of it has to do with the inclement weather. I apparently won’t hear anything until it hoes to the Chicago post office and then is delivered from there.
I think a lot of it has to do with the way I sent it (Priority with tracking). Fingers crossed that I hear something either tomorrow or Monday; or else we are definitely going to start preparing a duplicate packet (can’t hurt to have a physical duplicate for records if it doesn’t end up being needed).

Duplicate packet is always encouraged.  If I can remember, I included signature upon delivery.
