Estimated delay for I-129f applications?

We sent out I-129F packet in Mid February. 

 

Has CDC announced if they have cut staff/hours/etc?

 

I understand they are still processing applications but trying to plan ahead if it will be delayed or not.

California Service Center (CSC) adjudicates I-129f cases. They are working and processing necessary paperwork and issuing NOA1's and NOA2's but at a different pace then pre-pandemic. Expect 3-7-month processing.

FWIW, the official processing times tend to be very conservative, because they're the cut-offs for when you're officially "outside normal processing times" and so inquiries get something other than a generic "you're still within normal processing times" response.

 

At any rate, it doesn't seem like petition processing rates at USCIS are being affected much by COVID-19 (and may even be speeding up due to reduced volume).

However, until consulates and embassies re-open (and for everyone not from Canada or Mexico, regular flights are happening again), the beneficiary can't have an interview, get his or her visa, and come to the US.

My beneficiary is in Thailand. So wouldn't the The embassy just need to be open for her interview?

Presumably (there are countries where they do immigrant/immigrant-intent visa interviews at one of the consulates, rather than the embassy but I don't know Thailand).

 

I don't think there'd be much point in interviewing without a reasonable expectation that she'd be able to get to the US before her visa expires, but who knows how this is going to play out.

All but a few are closed for interviews. I have confirmed that one embassy, Gambia (stated on their website) has reopened for the processing of all non-immigrant visas. In checking the US Embassy Thailand, it is closed for interviews.

They are definitely on the longer side.

 

My receipt date was 12 Dec 2019 so we're 4 months in. 

 

All the Service centers (according to the processing times tab here on VJ) are past my NOA1 date.

4-5 months is about average time from what I’ve seen the last several months . So why do you say it’s taking longer ?

The average waiting time for approval of the I-129F is five months. In some cases, the approval could arrive in as little as 3 months. In others, it could take longer. You can check the current I-129F petition processing times to see if there are any backlogs at the USCIS service center processing your petition. VJ timelines are only a guesstimate and represent a smaller portion of the greater population that is applying and are not in the VJ timeline numbers.
