Everyone be careful with the disinfectants, usually I buy the thymol based hippy dippy stuff (Seventh Generation) which I consider the best because it is very safe for sensitive skinned people like me but is extremely effective against viruses but it was all sold out here so I bought this one:

Stupidly I didn't read the instructions, and my face got too close to it, after about 1 minute, the sides of my face turned bright red and my face looked like a Venetian decorative mask!! Then I read the instructions to keep at least 6-8" away from it...thankfully my face went back to its normal sheet white pale within a matter of minutes. When dealing with disinfectants, always read the instructions...lesson learned here!

Since it's a zoo, presumably the tiger isn't eating wild animals? People are saying one of the zookeepers may have spread the virus to the tiger? In that case, it would be zoonotic: "The 4-year-old Malayan tiger named Nadia — and six other tigers and lions that have also fallen ill — are believed to have been infected by a zoo employee who wasn't yet showing symptoms, the zoo said."

We can spread it to animals. They cant spread it to us.

Interesting fact... Cats can get heart worm disease.  But they're a dead end host and cant spread it which is why we dont a) preventatively treat them or b) test them.

Slowly by surely seeing some toilet paper return to the shelves at the big box stores here, but no rubbing alcohol or alcohol-based disinfectants at all.

 

Isn't rubbing alcohol easy to produce? Why is there such a shortage? It was so abundant before, I used to buy it all the time for my homemade tea tree oil anti-mold concotion that I spray in the shower. Now I have to go back to the boring pre-made shower spray that doesn't work as well against mold. 

 

Interesting fact: the sale of rubbing alcohol is banned in Russia because they think people will drink it (or, more like, people were drinking it, hence the ban?). They mostly sell hydrogen peroxide-type disinfectants over the counter there.

Zoom meeting today at work: overwhelming consensus that everyone is tired of the lockdown. Lockdown fatigue is really setting in, I don't know how much longer we can all take it mentally.

Anybody else feel like they went from not seeing their spouses enough (especially before moving to the US) to now seeing them too much? 

 

All jokes aside, covid-19 actually hasn't changed our lives that much. My husband has always mainly worked from home with our family businesses, and since last year I have been doing the same after quitting my other job. Since we sell online we have been very fortunate and covid-19 has massively increased our sales, so in that regard this virus has been a great thing for us. We have never had a March, April and May this good ever before, this is usually the slow part of the year. So let's just say we've been super busy, no vacation exactly. 😶

 

And luckily we don't have any kids, so that's one less hassle I guess. The dogs (we have four of them at present, ugh) have a huge yard so they're doing just fine too.

 

L.A. has been crazy since this all started, but I feel like things are slowly getting better now, finally. You find things in the store that you never found just a few weeks ago, you don't have to start lining up outside Costco at 3 in the morning etc.

 

I'm so curious to know what things will be like and what will happen when everything has opened up again..

I'm afraid it will be forgotten quite fast. Hearing the stories from former co-workers makes me sick. Customers where nice and happy for exactly two days after the store opened up again. Day three they're rude, complaining about waiting times and keeping a distance is something they've never heard about.
