Very good, most couples don't  do it or wait until it's  too late. I would recommend applying ASAP before marriage.

Yes! I applied for my SSN a few days after arriving and got the card the following week. I will be changing the name on my card to my new married name soon too 🙂

What I meant is that due to the fact that this country is so huge it just needs longer. From Germany I'm used that even standart post is delivered the next day. Just because it's possible because of the size of the country.

Haha I am from a small country.. mail takes days if not weeks within the coubtry! USPS is way faster 😂 it depends on the people, trust me 😂

Planing to send my package as soon as my husband ( US citizen) will be able to file taxes for 2019. Hopefully it's gonna happen this month.

By the way, I would really appreciate any advises on preparing FORM I-864,  Affidavit of Support if a person self employed.

ps sorry, my English is not perfect ;)

Hey everyone! My husband and I are preparing to send our AOS package this month. I was wondering about the form I-864. I graduated college in 2018 and only worked part-time while in school, so my previous years tax returns show that I didn't make enough money to qualify above the poverty threshold. However, for 2019, I have made well above the required income. Does anyone forsee that to be an issue with approval? I was wondering if I should get a joint sponsor just to be safe.

They do key on the current year taxes, but will you have 2019 taxes done that fast? You are only required to submit the current year taxes. If your 2019 taxes are not finished before you apply this month then you'll  have to use 2018.

They should have given you one once you complete your medical.

We got married but have not applied for his SSN yet. May I ask why this is recommended? I have read in different places it is best to wait for 2 after entering the USA to apply? 🥴

its to make sure the relevant offices have properly logged you into the country on the i-94 which can take up to 2 weeks supposedly.
